A therapist for the last 21 years, I spent the twenty years before that in large firm law practice in SF, DC and NY. I delight in working with people in a frank and open way, with the aim of changing their lives for the better. Life is difficult in so many ways. When you and your therapist are a good fit, therapy can expand your world, deepen your relationship to yourself and others, and free you to live more fully and freely.

My work is informed by psychoanalytic principles, but is relational in practice. I am not a "hidden" psychotherapist. While you will have plenty of room to explore yourself, your relationships and your life in the way that suits you best, you won't leave without knowing who I "really" am.

I offer an initial consult at 50% of my usual fee, so you can decide whether we are a good fit. Email me, and we'll find a time to talk.

Sheila M Cahill's Groups

Women's Process-Oriented Therapy Group

No groups active as of August 2019. From time time I form a group of five to seven women, ages 30 to 60, to work on issues arising in their lives and relationships, with a focus on inter-personal process. Such a group is suitable for high-functioning women with psychotherapy experience who want to improve their experience in relationship, understand how others perceive them and how to be more effective listeners and communicators.
