About
If you have concerns, worries or anxieties or feel overwhelmed sometimes, we can look at these together and work toward resolution in a relationship of trust, empathy, insight and honesty. I search for each person's strengths to enable them to have more control over their life. Most people have difficulty in relationships..........with friends, family members, or individuals in their work setting. We work together on improving communication to empower you to be more successful.
I have been a practicing psychotherapist for 25 years in Chevy Chase, working with adults, seniors, and older adolescents. It is a general practice with particular focus on trauma survivors, and a great deal of early work with substance abuse. I believe psychotherapy is helping individuals seek alternatives in thinking, feeling, and behaving.
I have a therapy dog who is present with clients who request her. She often has a comforting and calming effect on people, leading to general stress reduction - a concept I work on with everyone. We spend some time talking about stress management techniques.
