I have 34 years of experience helping people who are hurting change their lives. Often, we develop skills to survive difficult situations -childhood abuse, bullying in school, a bad car accident, sexual assault, an abusive marriage or boss - and it's hard to stop using those old skills, even when we no longer need them. We react in a new relationship as if we have to protect ourselves from things in the past. This often leads to more pain and unwanted outcomes. I can help you recognize those maladaptive coping skills. Change is difficult and often scary, but so worth it. I will be there cheerleading you as you practice new skills.
I am trained in Evidence Based Therapies for PTSD including CPT, Prolonged Exposure and EMDR.I have training in DBT. I treat Complex PTSD with a focus on how childhood and earlier experiences affect your coping skills and relationships, including with me- the therapist. I'm also a skilled CBT & couples therapist and I will adapt to what works for you.
Trauma can change us and how we see the world. Coping skills learned in traumatic situations or during difficult times can fail us when things change.. It isn't your fault if you're struggling. I can't change your past experiences , but I can help you learn to cope and even thrive in your present.

I'm scheduling a 10-week virtual class on coping skills for PTSD. I’ll cover PTSD education, its impact, coping strategies, and treatment options. We’ll also discuss how PTSD from multiple childhood traumas may differ from single-incident PTSD. Classes are Wednesdays, 4–5:30 PM, starting when enough people enroll. Cost: $600 for all 10 weeks (prepaid) or $70 per class.
