I am a Certified Rehab Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Abuse Specialist Associate, and I hold a Doctorate in Community Counseling and Traumatology. I'm experienced in individual, family, and group counseling. I assist individuals with issues such as self-esteem, anxiety, anger management, behavioral difficulties, child and adolescent development, family communication, substance abuse and more. Through co-therapy, my colleague and I also work with couples to successfully navigate through divorce and breakups, amicably resolving issues that not only effect the couples but also any children who may be involved.
Counseling is a collaborative effort between the clinician and the client striving to create a warm, safe, and caring atmosphere. Some may fear the perceived stigma of mental health or may not meet criteria for an official diagnosis. For those non-diagnosable individuals who seek guidance/coaching, services may be rendered using a sliding payment scale.
My theoretical approach is based on cognitive behavioral techniques and person-centered thinking which focuses on the idea that our thoughts are the foundation of our feelings and behaviors.
