About

With 32 years of working with individuals and families, I specialize in helping people make changes/progress with depression, anxiety, marital discord, parenting, and other life challenges. As a therapist, I take a nonjudgemental approach in helping people take control of their lives. Some things to ask yourself: Are you dealing with anxiety, depression, or another life challenge? Does your child/adolescent need assistance in expressing feelings? Does your child/adolescent push the limits? Have you and your spouse grown apart? Becoming stronger as an individual/family and strengthening boundaries and roles are my number one goals.
As a therapist, I specialize working with individuals and families incorporating Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused and Family Systems Therapy. Through therapeutic sessions, the client will be able to make connections with past experiences to current behavior, thinking and choices. In addition, identify areas of being "stuck" and healthier alternatives.
As a Licensed Educational Psychologist I conduct Psycho-Educational Assessments. The assessment process focuses on evaluation, diagnosis and recommendations based on relative strengths and weaknesses in the areas of cognition, processing abilities. Previous positions held in school settings include teacher, school counselor/psychologist, and administrator.

Sharon Carrigg Bailey's Groups

Mind Power

These groups are designed for ages 11-17 years old focusing on understanding emotional responses and triggers caused by anxiety, depression and/or social and life pressures. Group members will develop skills including identifying how our thoughts affect our feelings and how our feelings drive our behaviors by using an evidence-based curriculum and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is my intent as the therapist for this to be a safe place where the client finds validation through interacting and sharing experiences with other group members and at the same time increasing confidence in themselves. Groups will be formed by ages.

Building Social Skills

Children have difficulty with social skills for different reasons. Some children appear as they don't want friends but really, they do not have the necessary skills to engage in the process. Some children have friends but for some reason the relationships do not last or end in conflict. Others want friends but are riddled with anxiety/low self-esteem. This group assists in identifying and developing key social skills including but not limited to body language, conversation starters, reading between the lines, eye contact, knowing when/what to share, jumping into conversations and building self confidence in social situations.

Teenager Save Haven

Being a teenager is hard! Group members will learn strategies to identify triggers, cope with depressive thoughts, increase self esteem/awareness, communicate more effectively and set boundaries with family and friends. The benefit of this group is to feel support from others in the group who have similar difficulties, gain Cognitive Behavioral strategies to use in everyday life, have a better understanding of the meaning of life and what day to day experiences bring us.
