Do you ever feel like your child is speaking a different language? From the moment they are born children reciprocally interact with their environments and learn as little explorers. They may not yet have the developmental capacity to verbalize what they need, want, feel or know but, they do communicate and express themselves through other, non-verbal methods such as play, art, sports and learned behaviors. As a parent, approaching your child with a spirit of learning from them through use of their language, by listening and observing is essential in the positive development of your mutual relationship.
The primary focus of our first session is creation of a trusting alliance. I aspire to create a safe, non-judgmental space where we can work together in the spirit of learning from each other. Our child-centered office provides many developmentally appropriate ways for your child (5-18years) to express themselves authentically through their own language.
Seeking help from an outsider is scary. I am honored that you took a chance on me! My own unique personal journey & experiences as a mother, a human and a professional enhance my capacity to provide a uniquely empathetic approach with clients age 5-18. All humans have something to teach and something to learn. Let's all share and learn together!

Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program
The SAIOP at Avance Care Center of Excellence is uniquely designed around typical working hours not only for convenience but to alleviate the stress felt when people have to miss work for treatment. The SAIOP is designed as an opened group and, will be held 3 days per week (One of which includes Saturday) on a 12 week cycle. Every other Saturday an identified "Supportive Other" is encouraged to participate in an effort to prepare them for "receiving and supporting" the patient after care. The program is based upon empirically supported "best practices" through ASAM, SAMHSA, and NC DHHS.
