If you are having difficulties and would like some support, I would like to help. I work with a broad range of issues but have a great deal of experience working with people who have experienced different kinds of trauma including childhood abuse and sexual assault, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns (romantic/social/family). I also have interests in working with issues related to identity in a minority population (racial/ethnic, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious). It is important to me to provide a safe, accepting, and multiculturally competent environment for my clients as they explore challenging issues.
My approach to therapy involves helping people gain awareness about their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and patterns. This includes improving healthy coping, exploring how patterns developed, and establishing new ways of responding. I am trained in providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), & my clients have found this very beneficial.
I have been providing therapy for over 20 years and have worked in community mental health centers and university counseling centers before coming to private practice. I have many years of experience providing training/supervision to developing therapists, and I truly appreciate being a part of my clients' journeys.
