Shannon South, LPC, ThD, Licensed Professional Counselor in Asheville
I am a transpersonal psychologist focused on healing the split associated with trauma. Trauma can disconnect a person from their original truth and create a disconnect in the mind-body and spirit of a person. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and the Inner Counselor are two of the valuable experiential processes I utilize with clients. I often see clients with panic disorder and depression, sexual abuse and abusive relationships, codependency and self-esteem issues. Bringing health and balance back around areas that have become compulsions (eating, sex, alcohol, relationships, etc.) is another important part of this personal healing journey.
I love to help you get in touch with your wisest, most, loving and joy-filled self. Finding inner connection with yourself gives you more clarity, direction, self-love and compassion for your life. Transpersonal psychology bridges this gap between spirituality and psychology Whatever your concerns, your "Soul" self knows how to find its way.
I use MBSR (Mindfulness based Stress Reduction) as one of the transpersonal techniques that has amazing results. Reduced depression and anxiety, reduced pain and grief, increased immunity and present moment awareness are just a few of the powerful, well studied benefits of mindfulness. or
