Building authentic, genuine, open, & honest relationships are fundamental to my counseling, & have been instrumental for the past 30 years of helping people find their way through difficult times. Although qualified in many counseling approaches, my focus is always on you & your life journey - not a technique. My guarantee is simple - if I can't help you or your loved ones, I'll help find someone who can. I'm far from perfect & make mistakes; but most people know me as kind, caring, and sometimes funny.
I have many specialties including EMDR, CBT, EFT, play therapy, expressive and art therapies, etc. I focus on strengths, empowerment, and healing past trauma. I am a professor of counseling at UNLV, and have been training students to become counselors for over 25 years.
Unique factors to my practice include treating psychological and emotional issues related to abuse, trauma, divorce, anxiety, etc., as well as healing scars of discrimination and oppression of various forms (racism, sexism, ageism, able-bodyism, genderism, etc.).

I listen to everyone's life story and integrate treatment types that are most relevant. Of course, I prefer evidence-based practices; however, there are times when experiential approaches are appropriate & effective. For example, I often utilize guided imagery and mindfulness practices, and with children I prefer non-directive play therapy. I'm an old-school existential-humanist at heart.
