Shannon Cantu has a M.S. in Marriage, Family, and Couple’s Counseling, with a concentration in Trauma and Crisis. She is an LPC- Associate, that is passionate in working with adolescents, individuals, LGBTQ and couples in a variety of issues; anxiety, depression, relationship issues, infidelity, stress, PTSD, grief, domestic and sexual abuse. She believes in providing a safe and nonjudgmental space for her clients. Shannon and her clients will work together on steps towards achieving the goals they set.
She uses a wide variety of theories and techniques depending on the clients’ goals and needs. Some of the approaches she has used are; Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Approach, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, Solution-Focused Therapy and more.
She believes that people cannot change other people, but a person can change what they do and how they react. She believes if a person is given the correct tools and has the motivation to change then they can make it happen.
