About
Bariatric Evaluations Only: I am a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in bariatric surgery and weight loss. I provide psychological evaluations for patients who are preparing for bariatric surgery. These evaluations can be done virtually. The psychological process related to, and impact of, weight loss and bariatric surgery is one of my greatest passions. I am compassionate about the battles and struggles; emotional, physical, and psychological, surrounding obesity. My goal during evaluation is to educate patients on the psychological aspects of bariatric surgery, as well as to offer behavior modification tips unique to you.
My evaluation consists of an interview and psychological testing. We discuss your goals and expectations related to surgery. My goal is to educate you on the process of bariatric surgery and weight loss, inform you of the obstacles some patients face throughout the process, and help you develop a plan to ensure the most successful surgery outcome possible.
We discuss behavior modifications necessary for you to thrive post-surgery, body image, mental health, disordered eating, emotional eating, barriers that may prevent patients from realizing success, and ways to manage unhealthy behaviors around food. Finally, I make individualized recommendations for you. I only do these evaluations, not outpatient therapy.
