Some of us have waited our whole lives to be received with intelligent compassion. Being heard and feeling deeply understood matters. When it happens, we know it – we can sense it viscerally. It helps us begin to make sense of our histories, our thoughts and feelings, of inevitable changes and life challenges, of successes and failures. I strive to create such an environment, to listen carefully with my mind and my heart to what is said and to what may still be un-sayable. I strive to help you heal old emotional wounds of many kinds, face current challenges with curiosity, and create lasting changes for a better future.
I treat stress, depression, anxiety, relationship and attachment issues, feelings of worthlessness, fear of failure/success, anger and grief, including pet loss. I aim to be sensitive to racial, cultural and social bias and the damage wrought by marginalization of any kind. I work with straight and GLBTQ clients. I am a sex therapist and am EMDR Certified.
I am opportunistic in a good way, encouraging it in my clients, using whatever may arise to create a path to healing. Married over 40 years, I've learned a great deal about nurturing the good in relationships to keep them alive, meeting inevitable difficulties with resolve and creativity; As Jack Nicholson said, "Love makes you want to be a better person."
