I am passionate about a lot of things, foremost of which is helping individuals struggling with sex addiction, maladaptive sexual behaviors, intimacy disorders, and problematic gambling. I am also EMDR trained and utilize this technique for trauma healing. I focus on recovery from trauma, whether related to addiction or family-of-origin issues. I believe trauma affects everyone in different ways and requires its own unique recovery process consisting of blending addictions and trauma models together. Every individual has the capacity to heal and move forward on their journey towards health and happiness.

As a Counselor and Coach in long term recovery from both substance and process addictions, I've received support from some very special humans who've lit the way for me to peer into the areas of my path that I was either denying or just couldn't see from an objective perspective (yet). After a career as a marketing professional, I'm grateful to have transitioned into providing the work that's helped me come to terms with life and my place in it; work that feeds my soul and shines the light on those dark places so many of us are afraid to venture into alone. Together, we can explore and make meaning of what's happened for you.

I want to help clients improve their lives by developing coping skills relating to anxiety, trauma, depression, self esteem, communication and relationship skills, utilizing cognitive behavioral and EMDR treatments. The coronavirus (COVID-19) disease outbreak is likely to create stress for many of us. Fears and anxiety can be overwhelming. Symptoms may include fear and worry about health and finances; changes in eating, sleeping and alcohol/drug use patterns; difficulty sleeping or concentrating and worsening of chronic health conditions. In compliance with social distancing, I am offering telehealth and telephonic therapy.

After 30+ years practicing psychotherapy and marriage counseling, I still find relationships issues to be a major reason why people come to therapy. Relationships can sometimes be too emotionally merged, or too emotionally distant and isolating (however, there are times when relationships feel both merged and isolating all at the same time). My focus is on helping people realize and alter emotional issues that pop up over and over again and consistently inhibit relationships. Sometimes we know we're stuck or lost in a relationship, but we just can't figure out...any way 'out' of what we feel.

I have been a counselor for 20+ years. I work with most substance and/or process addictions, my favorite work being with people dealing with compulsive sexual behavior. I have trained with Pia Mellody and embrace her work on Developmental Immaturity. I am in recovery myself, for 33 years, and enjoy helping others who want to overcome their addictive behaviors. I believe in the importance of treating the underlying childhood issues as well as building a 12-step based recovery. I help people free themselves from isolation and shame caused by addictive behaviors and reengage in their lives from a place of sobriety, peace and joy.

I have been in private practice for over 20 years. My experiences have included working with children, adolescents, and adults in coping with a variety of relationship problems, mental health, and substance use disorders.

My passion is helping others through life's ups and down standing along side them in the journey. I have found through therapeutic sessions a common thread, and that is finding and holding on to hope, and the struggle in learning to truly love yourself. I have been practicing in the Substance abuse and Mental Health arena since 2007. I have a Master’s in Professional Counseling and a Masters in Addiction Counseling.
