Criss, LPC, Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist, founded a private practice, Open Hearts, Open Minds Counseling Services specializing in the treatment of addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma and intimacy disorders. Treatment of intimacy disorders may include a focus on sexual compulsivity, infidelity and relational trauma. Cynthia helps persons to create healthy and intimate relationships. I have been a therapist since 1978. I taught undergraduate and graduate Psychology courses at Ottawa University (11 years) and Rio Salado College (17 years).I specialize in OCD and obsessive sexual behaviors but have treated nearly every type of client and diagnosis over the past four decades. It’s a terrible thing, to be two people: the healthy one that everyone knows and the addicted one you hide inside. At Oasis Psychological services, I conduct psychological evaluations for individuals ages 8-65, psychosexual evaluations for juveniles and adults with sexual behavior problems, and assessments for juveniles with delinquency and/or substance abuse issues. I also conduct disability evaluations. Oasis Psychological Services offers therapy for a wide range of mental health problems as well as specialized services for juveniles with sexual behavior problems. We offer individual, family, and group counseling.

I have an extensive background working with SMI clients and work well with clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. I also appreciate working with clients who are of Native American background and I am very knowledgeable of the culture of the Akimel O'odham people. I also utilize integrated therapies such as DBT, CBT and Existential therapy when working with those experiencing grief and loss and seek to assist clients experiencing bereavement. I also work well with adolescents, adults and older adults.

I provide a safe, comfortable and laid back environment for therapy. While you won't find any cascading waterfalls or healing rocks in my office, you will find a calm place to do the hard work of change. I will work with you in an effort to get you in an out of therapy as quickly as possible. Your first couple sessions will involve us getting familiar with each other, working together to complete a comprehensive assessment, and beginning to develop the goals for your treatment.
