I am a licensed clinical counselor. I love to work with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse issues. Life transition and relationship difficulties are also areas where I can help. I prefer to work with clients who are motivated to help themselves and understand it's their therapy session. I meet the clients where they are at. My go-to treatment modalities are CBT. I am non-judgmental, empathetic, and kind. I feel that a collaborative approach toward treatment goals is essential. I love people working with people. Guiding them toward healthy positive changes is the most rewarding aspect of my job.

I believe life is a continuous evolution of healing and growth, and I am honored by the opportunity to walk with my clients through the sacred work of therapy. I foster a safe and supportive space, where I can meet you where you are at in your journey to help you discover that you are the expert in your own life. My goal is to guide you into a deeper connection with yourself, familiarize yourself with your internal landscape, the parts of you, and your strengths, in order to develop a sense of security within yourself and identify the patterns that may no longer be working for you.

I believe that therapy needs to be personalized to the individual and the goals that you have for yourself. Therapy is also a partnership between the therapist and the client. I often compare my view of therapy to a GPS; with you in the driver's seat, you select the destination you'd like to reach, and I'll help figure out a way to get us there. Empathy and therapeutic rapport are a foundation in my approach to practice; I have a genuine interest and investment in the lives of those that I work with, having compassion in all our interactions, while at the same time, also challenging you to work towards growth.

Say you found yourself at a fork in the road. Do you pick a) the path that feels best in the moment; b) choose a path based on perceived future benefits or consequences; or c) furiously yell at your phone’s navigation for not giving you a heads up about the upcoming choice? Life is full of forked paths and these choices can sometimes dictate the route our life takes, who we become, and the people we meet along the way. We can also leave behind parts of ourselves because those parts may be too heavy to carry or too vulnerable for us to take with us. We might even wonder if we picked the correct path in our relationships or career.

Everyone deserves to feel a sense of peace and happiness in their lives. As we all know, life tends to have other plans that can make that peace and happiness feel out of reach. As your therapist, my priority is to join you on that journey of discovery. Whether it is anxiety taking over, unresolved conflicts in your relationships, learning more about your emotions, or wanting a stronger relationship with your spouse or child, I want to join you on this journey through collaboration. As a couple and family therapist, I welcome couples, families, and individuals who are committed to growth.

Hello! I look forward to forming a healthy therapeutic relationship with all the clients that come my way. Providing therapy is a huge passion of mine and I plan to provide the most efficient and adequate therapy to all of my clients. Therapy can be life changing for those who are committed and its not always the easiest of roads to take, but when you have someone whose highly committed to helping you heal and grow, its a smoother road. I've been living in this community for all of my life and I have a lot of passion to helping those in my community with their mental health.

All of us have experienced challenging times in our lives. It’s natural to want to seek out help for those times. My unique training has equipped me to work with children, adults, couples, and families. Although I cannot “fix” the issues at hand, we can work together to figure out what is already working for you and build upon those skills and tools. I believe that you have already started to put in the work to create change the moment you sought out therapy.

My therapeutic approach is centered on connecting with clients, giving them the opportunity to share their story, and ultimately equipping and empowering them to change the narrative of their story in a way that will help them to thrive. I find it particularly rewarding to create a space where those who feel unheard can truly find their voice. Connection, authenticity, and vulnerability are foundational in the way I relate to clients. I am passionate about coming alongside people who are hungry for personal development to help them on their growth journey.

We all need support at times. I cater my approach based on the needs of each individual and my goal is to help navigate change or obstacles while fostering growth. I am trauma-informed and my approach to therapy is warm and person-centered. The idea of processing and working through trauma can be overwhelming. You are the expert on yourself, and I aim to provide a space where you can be authentic and feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I believe the key to successful therapy is meeting clients where they are at in life and acknowledging and accepting that change takes work and courage, especially when we are working on bettering ourselves. There is something profound when one can take a step back and realize how they would like to change in order to live a fulfilling and happy life.

I completed my Masters in Social work at Cleveland State University and have since gained valuable experience in working with those who face substance use problems and addictions as well as survivors of trauma. I knew from a very young age that helping people was part of who I am. I love walking with people as they explore themselves and gain insight, discover their strengths, and work toward healing. I believe that many of my own experiences in life, both happy and painful, shaped and gave me opportunities to grow and become who I am. I try to build on those experiences as I walk with my clients in their life journeys.

You deserve to live a life that energizes and excites you to get out of bed each day (or at least after that first cup of coffee)! You deserve to feel your best so you can be the best version of yourself in every situation. Many people come to coaching or counseling because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, lacking purpose/direction, or want help moving past obstacles they've felt in front of them for years. I understand because I have been there too.

I attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and then graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, OH with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Initially, I spent a year practicing in a nonprofit focused solely on bereavement before expanding to other specialties. *CURRENTLY TAKING NEW CLIENTS* Each person is born to be someone – themself. Over time this sense of self is molded by our lived experiences, relationships, and interactions. Sometimes we are molded to fit into a role or to fulfill someone else’s needs. It is this sense of losing ourselves that can lead to the challenges of anxiety, depression, emotional distress, and numerous other mental health concerns. As a result, I believe counseling is an essential part of life – a journey to finding the authentic self.

When we live in spaces of meeting other people’s expectations, how can we ever discover who we authentically are? My role as a therapist is to create a space where you are able to be authentically yourself. We are not simple and isolated beings. We are influenced and impacted by various different relationships and experiences throughout our lives. There is no road map on how to be. So, let’s create it together. I specialize in working with families of all shapes, sizes and experiences, and specifically those that identify within the LGBTQIA+ community.

In complex trauma things were never okay and just continued to get worse. The subtle feeling that something is not right escalates into a bulldozer of concerning or scary symptoms. You may struggle with feelings of numbness, disconnection, and emptiness. Or you may feel everything too loudly and all at once. Your best attempt at survival might be compulsive behaviors or substance use. And you might have done things that you regret. Life has not been easy for you, and now you want to stop the cycle.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
