Helping clients find their authentic self is my passion. Trauma, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, depression and more can cause people to lose themself. Finding ways to cope with and free themselves from negative thoughts, fears, pain and trauma through useful tools, self-talk, and changing thought patterns is vital for my clients. Are you stressed, distressed or hurting? I have over 30 years of experience and knowledge to help you through your struggles. As a LPC I can show you the coping skills. As a retired psychiatric nurse (RN) I understand the mind /body connection (also medications and their effects). Oh, and I have a PhD from a well-known seminary if you're interested in the spiritual side of issues (no preaching). I use CBT, DBT, and trauma focused CBT with the goal of empowering clients to improve themselves emotionally and spiritually by enrichment of positive beliefs, effective communication, and grieving through loss.

My experience encompasses working with people of all ages who are navigating life stress, mental illness, and/or healing from trauma. I have worked with victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence, and supported parents through a variety of stressful experiences. I am able to work with individuals navigating life transitions, including relationship and faith-based transitions, as well as transitions in parenting children of all ages. I am am LGBTQIA+ allied.

I treat pre-teens, adolescents, adults, families, and relationships. My specialization lies in the treatment of depression, anxiety, recovery from sexual abuse or assault, out-of-control sexual behavior, sexual avoidance, and relationship issues. When treating relationships, my focus is on reducing feelings of resentment and increasing positive and healthy communication.

My practice focuses on adults struggling with addiction, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, depression, anxiety, parenting troubles, family of origin issues, divorce, marriage conflict, sexuality issues and feelings of emptiness. I specialize in addictions (both adult and adolescent) and parent child relationships with teenagers. I work with young adults in helping them transition from high school to college to adult life. I have also had a great deal of experience working with victims of sexual abuse (both adult and adolescent). I believe in helping people define what they want and help them figure out a plan to work towards that goal. As a therapist who has formerly worked in full time ministry I also enjoy working with people who are dealing with religious issues whether it is deconstruction or helping them develop the spiritual life they want.
