I specialize in helping people with trauma (abuse, assault, childhood, military), social anxiety, depression, and other issues.
I understand that clients are experts in their own lives, but sometimes they need help with unwanted thoughts, symptoms, or behaviors. Reaching out for help can be difficult for all kinds of reasons. I want to reassure you with words from Brené Brown “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to." I want to help you work on becoming the best version of yourself. Loneliness, social anxiety, and just dealing with a constantly changing world can sometimes make anyone feel out of control. I want to help give you back that feeling of being in control of your life.

As a Clinician, I work with a mixed population of children and adults, across a wide range of treatment modalities. My youngest client is 3 years old and my oldest is 53 years old. I feel called to work with individuals who have been exposed to traumatic events in their lives. Trauma therapy allows children to communicate, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn a variety of ways of relating to others. In working with adults, I want to help you break through the barriers of your trauma experience that have hindered you in life. Do you desire to push past the pain, and find your healing?

Have you experienced past trauma but never had a chance to work it through because you were always told to just get on with it? If therapy seems overwhelming, I am here to put you at ease. You can achieve your goals at your own pace because therapy is a collaboration between us. Most of my clients find me very relatable and easy to work with. Many of my clients are also people who recognize that they have experienced generational trauma and they want to be the ones to break that cycle for their future children.

We often find ourselves trying to make sense of what is happening in our lives, what has happened in the past, and what will happen in the future. Sometimes we might not know how it is we ended up in a specific situation, and being in this space can be stressful. We might feel lost, hopeless, and desperate to find a solution. However, it takes a lot of courage to want to undergo this self exploration, and find more fulfillment in our lives. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I believe in each one of my client’s inner wisdom, and their capacity to make the changes they need.

Life is not something we are meant to figure out all on our own and you’re on the path to connecting with the right support for you. When we have been hurt or betrayed by important people in our lives or failed by once-trusted systems, it can be difficult to be open, honest, or vulnerable. I honor and celebrate that self-protection; showing up with patience, respect, consistency, compassion, and holding a genuine belief that we are all doing the best we can. My name is Linett Negroni. I'm a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and wellness coach with Atulado Therapy.

Relationships can be a source of some of our greatest joys and deepest heartaches. Whether it's in our romantic relationships or between family members, we can get to a point where solutions seem impossible to find. What can we do when we feel so far from the ones we love? How can we help when a loved one is in struggle?

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
