I treat sexual abuse/trauma recovery, codependence recovery, and helping clients find satisfaction, joy, and a general feeling of contentment. Using various techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, sand tray therapy, and talk therapy; my clients feel a difference within one month. Most of my clients are finished and satisfied with their goals in therapy within 3-9 months. I am trained in Family Therapy, therefore, I use these techniques to explore family of origin issues.

I specialize in helping folks navigate gender identity, sexuality, systemic barriers, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, & other forms of trauma.
You deserve an expansive and liberated life. Many of my clients are exploring what it means to be their most authentic self, and how to deal with the barriers that stand in their way. They're looking for a place to be seen and understood, and to be able to let down their guard. I see clients who are navigating identity, sexuality, and belonging; those with trauma histories, anxiety, and depression, looking for relief and a deeper healing that takes them to a place of ease and fulfillment. They may have tried other solutions, but feel stuck and eager for a lasting and meaningful change.

I support people of diverse backgrounds seeking to manage stress, depression/anxiety and heal from experiences of trauma, sexual abuse, and/or domestic violence.
Counseling is a space where you don’t have to pretend everything is okay or hide what you’re going through. You do that enough in other areas of your life. You do not have to repeat those patterns here. In counseling, all parts of you are welcome and all the things you have gone through can be talked about. My goal is to work together to reclaim your life through talk and connection by affirming your needs, identity and beliefs while urging you to make informed decisions about therapy.

I address issues of sexual abuse and addiction, partners of infidelity or sex addicts trauma, substance abuse, developmental immaturity, divorce, and failure to launch young men.
Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience each other as real people. I can promise you that I am as real as it gets! I want to help you achieve whatever solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the process as much as possible and experiencing yourself in new ways. Simply put, I don't believe therapy has to always be a painful thing. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

Some of the issues I help my clients face are sexual abuse and addiction, betrayal trauma, parental enmeshment, relational and developmental trauma, divorce/single parenting, codependency, and women's issues.
If you struggle with sexually compulsive behaviors, addiction, or have a partner who has caused devastation in your life, I can help. Trying to stop compulsive behaviors on your own is difficult, and you may find yourself failing and experiencing shame because you don't have the tools you need. Whether these compulsive behaviors come from being betrayed by a partner, experiencing PTSD, being enmeshed with a partner or parent, or grieving a divorce, I can teach you the necessary skills to handle life's challenges. I'm passionate about my work and want to help you.

It is common for our clients to be struggling with active addiction, self-harm, suicidal ideation, broken relationships, psychiatric hospital visits, illegal activity, sexual assault, etc.
We are experts at helping you heal from unwanted and unhealthy behaviors. Our team specializes in distinct behaviors and diagnoses that allow us to treat what you are struggling with. Our clients have typically been to multiple treatment centers, therapists, psychologists, hospitals, etc. and none have been able to completely understand. Collaboration is a strong focus to ensure that both you as an individual and your family unit sprint towards a healthy state. We often have calls with psychiatrists, other therapists, recovery coaches, and family members to ensure we fully understand the history and current state.

I really don't have an ideal client. However, I prefer to work with people who are motivated to address their issues. I have experience in working with depression and anxiety. Issues of crisis intervention, post-traumatic stress, veterans concerns, and sexual abuse are all part of my skill set. Most people need support and compassion. The presenting problem may be related to other issues. Family of origin circumstances are frequently an issue. I work in conjunction with the client to develop a treatment plan. We devise goals and define what they hope to accomplish.

Waitlist for new clients
Please email me or visit my website to join my waitlist! I work well with folks experiencing disordered eating or navigating eating disorder recovery and those who have histories of trauma and sexual abuse. Many of my clients come to therapy searching for the "why": why they engage in certain behaviors, hold specific beliefs, or repeat the same relationship patterns over and over. Although there may not be a single “why,” exploring our pasts can help us understand our present-day behaviors, beliefs, and patterns. Oftentimes, it is this exploration and understanding that becomes a powerful catalyst for change.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
