I counsel clients with a myriad of issues that often present as anxiety and depression. I have experience working with adults with childhood trauma, such as physical and sexual abuse. I've worked with those in addiction and recovery and their families. I have experience with individuals battling pornography and porn addiction and sex therapy with couples. I also offer premarital counseling, EMDR, DBT, and conflict resolution.

I enjoy working with a variety of different people. I appreciate all the complexities of being human. Through a trusting and compassionate relationship there can be healing from many of life’s problems from childhood sexual abuse to recreating life after a divorce to recovering from an affair. Many of my clients both couples and individuals state their relationships and their life is better after therapy. They appreciate the time to pause and reflect. Sometimes they want to make changes or continue what is working.

My greatest pleasure is meeting people where they are and being curious about where they might be going. I don’t believe that I can take anyone to a place I haven’t been myself so I have remained committed to broadening and unburdening my own heart in my personal journey. My personal suffering transmuted by an abundance of grace has been my greatest teacher, so long as I haven’t had to suffer alone. My mission is to join others in their struggle and help them reveal truths that will create freedom in their lives.

Percy Ford, MC, LPC-MHSP, NCC established Lighthouse Correctional Counseling and Mental Health Services in 2012 to provide Individual Psychotherapy, Family Counseling, Group Therapy and Couples Counseling to offenders and their families. Mr. Ford earned a BS in Social Work from Tuskegee University in 1997 and graduated from Argosy University School of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences in 2007 with a MA in Professional Counseling.

After experiencing my own trials in life, I learned just how beneficial counseling can be to supporting us through life’s difficulties. It is my goal to provide that healthy support to others who are walking hard paths. For me, the therapeutic relationship involves a mutual learning from one another, as well as addressing a person’s needs from all arenas, including emotional, physical, and spiritual. An understanding of attachment helps me encourage clients to find clarity in their lives and healthier relationships with self and others. I am grateful for the honor of being a safe space for clients.

Therapy is a collaborative process where we will work as a team to get clients to a place where they want to be.

The biggest reason many don't seek counseling is the fear of reliving the past. Forward facing trauma therapy proves you don't always have to go back to move forward. There is a different way. There is a better way. We start with the symptoms of the present. Then look at how trauma affects the brain and changes how we, think, feel, and behave here in the present. Learning how to fix and reset the brain while decreasing symptoms is our goal at Sessions of Serenity. Done at your pace, in a way that helps restore safety, creates calm and empowers the client. Your past does not have to continue robbing you of your future.

I have a genuine interest in learning and connecting with others. I strive for authenticity, acceptance, awareness, autonomy, compassion, and a growth mindset for myself and for my clients. While techniques and modalities may vary depending on the client's goals, I first and foremost, strive to create for all clients a therapeutic environment centered upon safety, empathy, trust, and respect. As Brené Brown said, "Never underestimate the power of being seen."

Life can be hard, and sometimes we need some extra help and support to get through those difficult times. Whether it's dealing with young children or teenagers, relationship or family issues, anxiety or depression, the challenges of college life or jobs, or the curve ball that life throws at us, it can be stressful to manage, and can be helpful to have someone outside of the situation to talk with.

Developmentally in the US, we begin to truly form our identity as teenagers, but sometimes that gets stunted for one reason or another. I want to be able to walk by your side while you discover and choose who you want to be at whatever age that may happen. Anxiety, depression, and OCD are other issues I focus on.

Hi! I'm currently accepting new, individual clients ages 10-65 years old. I work with adolescents and adults and do my best to offer a comfortable space for you to be yourself. I hope that over time, we can foster a therapeutic relationship that will allow for growth and change in your life and your relationships. I am happy to offer a Christian perspective to clients who prefer to integrate their faith into their therapeutic journey. If this is not your preference or you do not identify as Christian, please know I would still love to work with you while integrating your perspectives.

Personal life experiences have inspired me to help others. I have developed a deeper understanding and empathy for others that experience difficult times. I have experience working with clients that have experienced significant loss and trauma. Physical health and mental health problems, often, develop when an individual experiences high level of stress. Depression and other mental health problems may occur when individuals and families experience multiple issues. Some issues may include separation, divorce, and loss of a loved one.

I love to work with clients who feel stuck in unhealthy relationships or habits. Many of my clients tell me that they have a hard time opening up, or that they did not think therapy would help them. I appreciate the struggle of unhealthy patterns, toxic relationships, or finding one’s path; and I’m honored to have the opportunity to support individuals who want to better understand themselves, heal, and grow. My clients leave therapy feeling hopeful, supported, and empowered to meet their goals.

Clients utilize my testing and evaluation services to determine the nature of their learning difficulties and to develop a treatment plan tailored to help them overcome these difficulties. Many clients receive counseling to help them to improve their school or work performance and to improve their self-esteem. Referrals are made to medical doctors if medications are deemed necessary (i.e., for ADHD, depression, etc.). Also, I am passionate about helping others with various emotional difficulties, relationship problems, and improving general life satisfaction through individual, family, and group therapies.
