I have been working as a trauma-informed therapist for ten years and I am passionate about ensuring survivors of trauma and adversity have a safe non judgemental space to heal from their painful past and recover to live their best life. Finding the right therapist in itself can be overwhelming. I provide free consultations so that you can get an idea if we are a good fit. It's been my passion the last 13 years to help people after experiencing traumatic events. I am trained in EMDR which is also known as "no talk therapy". You can share as much or as little as you like making it a preferable type of therapy for those struggling with trauma but not comfortable talking about it. I have also worked closely with first responders for the last 10 years making me familiar with the culture.

Life sometimes takes us in directions that are unknown, unwanted, unexpected and out of our control. When it does, it can appear overwhelming and difficult to face these issues and emotions by ourselves. Sometimes we feel that is the only option in order to succeed. What we tend to forget is life is a journey that we should take as a community and not individually. We can overcome theses issues together. As a survivor of childhood sexual assault, physical and mental abuse, and rape, I understand how important it is to feel safe in your environment, which is why I offer Mobile Counseling. I come to you, in an environment of your choosing, because unless you feel safe and comfortable, your healing will not progress the way you need it to. I customize each treatment plan according to your needs, and adjust accordingly. I do not believe in cookie cutter counseling/therapy, as rape and violence is not cookie cutter. If you are ready to stop surviving your life and start living your life, then I am the counselor for you.

I specialize in addictions (both adult and adolescent) and parent child relationships with teenagers. I work with young adults in helping them transition from high school to college to adult life. I have also had a great deal of experience working with victims of sexual abuse (both adult and adolescent). I believe in helping people define what they want and help them figure out a plan to work towards that goal. As a therapist who has formerly worked in full time ministry I also enjoy working with people who are dealing with religious issues whether it is deconstruction or helping them develop the spiritual life they want.

Amanda Almendarez is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 4 years of experience in clinical mental health. Amanda has experience in both private practice and agencies. She is passionate about helping adults and adolescents take steps to stop simply surviving and begin thriving in life. Amanda specializes in trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief/loss, depression, and anxiety. She also has experience with personality disorders, life transitions, and stress management. Amanda received her Master’s in Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

My purpose in life is to help, assist, and advocate for survivors of child sexual abuse, rape, dating/domestic violence, and narcissistic abuse. I am determined to change the narrative of survivors. There are so many survivors that will not ask for help because it is a sign of weakness. We need to change that mindset. You have to make the first step, and when you do, I will be there to help you start and get through your healing and recovery journey.

I have been in practice 16-years and have opened my service area thanks to Google Meet & Facetime. I became a therapist (I have a dual degree in both individual & family therapy) after beginning my own work over 2 decades ago. I see therapy as a tool, a valuable asset that helps us to pull from our history and present the things that work so our future can be everything we want.
