Hello, I am Jim Bennett ,Counselor. I have compassionately worked with families, couples, individuals, teens and groups for over 29 years. I have worked with these clients in a private practice setting and in an addictions treatment center setting. I have accomplished Masters Degrees in both Counseling and Clinical Psychology. I studied both disciplines to equip myself for assessment as well as treatment . I became a counselor to help teens navigate their way into adulthood. I quickly found that the family is where it all starts. Therefore, I focused on family/marriage counseling. From there I branched into addiction counseling.

Life can throw us some curve balls, and sometimes, when trying to deal with these curve balls, we struggle to find ways to cope. For some, coping through food and/or substance use is one of the ways that people try to cope through life challenges. For others it can be isolating, self-harming, or numbing yourself to feelings all around. These coping mechanisms only work for so long, until they don't work anymore, and end up hurting you. After working with adolescents in various settings in my early career, I recognized the need to utilize the family and other support systems to affect more powerful and lasting change. I worked in several school settings where I developed systemic interventions that included family therapy, community outreach and service. I linked with the programs and universities training masters and PhD level clinicians in MFT. Upon retirement from the schools, I have continued seeing clients in private practice, where I now work with a diverse group of dedicated, energetic clinicians with shared commitment to positive outcomes.

I know that for many people the hardest part of therapy is picking up the phone to ask for help, I want to thank you for taking that first step. Choosing the right person to help is a very individual process, and time after time the best predictor of successful counseling or therapy has been shown to be the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client. Lauren Lollar is a Licensed Master Social Worker with 3 years of experience in mental health care. Lauren is a certified trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy specialist and enjoys working with others to process their trauma. She has extensive knowledge of early childhood development and wants to support children and families experiencing both mental health and life changes. She is well-versed in working with depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders and passionately advocates for those with substance use disorders and their families. Lauren completed her master’s in social work (LMSW) at the University of South Carolina.

Many of the clients I provide services to have experienced challenges that no one should have to go through in a lifetime. The children, adolescents and families that I serve may have participated in counseling previously or are trying it for the first time. People may have felt that their or their children's issues were beyond help or intervention. People I work with are offered strategies and solutions to life's challenges, in a comfortable environment, with a compassionate and dedicated counselor.
