I have a very holistic approach to psychotherapy and feel that each therapeutic relationship is unique and needs to be both broad and individualized. I help teens, and adults make sense of the complexity of a struggle or experience so that they can harness their strengths and feel empowered and supported to create a meaningful change in themselves and their relationships. I provide parent guidance for children of all ages to help parents make sense of complex childhood struggles and how best to understand and support their child's unique development.

I enjoy working with people who struggle with depression and/or anxiety. Ideally, their goals would be to improve their overall functioning and quality of life. My ideal client would be able to put in the necessary work to accomplish their goals. My therapy style is authentic, empathetic, and validating. I believe in incorporating various treatment modalities that are based on the individual needs of my clients.

I am Hillary Schultz, a clinician and owner of Progression Counseling Group. Individual services are available to those ages 5 and up. The gift of therapy is an opportunity to feel different. Maybe to gain a felt sense of joy, peace and contentment. What does that mean? Many may have tried “talk therapy” alone. Although “talking” through life experiences can be helpful, it is often discovered that there is a felt sense to the issues that words cannot get through alone. Often resulting in not feeling better. The basis of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is that along with talk therapy it incorporates identifying where the feeling is physically located and more importantly, somatically felt. How the body is responding to the actual memory.

My 20+ years as a mental health therapist has allowed me to support others unbiasedly, while allowing them the space to become the best version of themselves. I value the therapeutic relationships I build with my clients and work believe the foundation of therapy is a relationship built on trust and respect, where each person is the expert of their own life.

Life experiences and exposure can present constant barriers to living whole. These same experiences can be overwhelming, and keep you stuck in exhausting cycles. Although the steps ahead may be challenging and different from what you have experienced thus far, I encourage you to keep moving. My ideal clients are adults with challenges regarding everyday life, trauma, identity, faith and spirituality issues but committed to the process of self-awareness, healing, and growth.

We have little control over life's challenges, however we do have control over how we chose to deal with them. I have over sixteen years of social service experience with adults, adolescents, and children in the fields of education, child welfare, delinquent youth, and mental health services. I have two master’s degrees in both Social Work and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. I chose a career in counseling because I have always had a passion for helping others. I believe patients deserve a safe place to share and work on struggles in all aspects of their lives. During an initial evaluation, my goal is to develop an understanding of what each individual patient is seeking and provide a thorough consultation of how to direct treatment. I completed a Master of Arts in counseling at Ursuline College. I will not be accepting new patients until March 2024.

My aim is to empower those who struggle with managing their emotional and behavioral well-being. I have extensive experience in areas of trauma, emotional dysregulation (e.g., depression, anxiety), behavioral disorders in children, aggression, para-suicidal and self-injurious behaviors, identity issues, sexual-offending behaviors, and personality disorders.
