She treats clients with trauma and PTSD, sexual abuse or sexual assault backgrounds, substance abuse, domestic violence backgrounds, and narcissism abuse.
Stephanie's ideal client is someone who is willing to come to session and put in the hard work that therapy requires. Her ideal client’s issues and needs would stem from something personal or even an external circumstance from outside of their lives. What matters here is having courage and how her clients decide to deal with those issues and needs, because life can throw curveballs. She she hopes to bring a sense of compassion, kindness, trust, and empathy when working with these clients.

I have a lot of experience working with children & teenagers, victims of violence, assault & human trafficking.
Sitting in a rocking chair, rocking back and forth, may feel relaxing but I believe that life without therapy is like sitting in that rocking chair, rocking back-and-forth but never actually making any progress or going anywhere. I feel that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point during a lifetime, especially now during this unprecedented time. This pandemic has changed the way we live and has brought new levels of fear, isolation and hardships to many. Navigating through these days are difficult, why do it alone when you can get through it with a therapist who will support you along the way?

One of the most important factors of successful counseling is to have a good connection with your therapist. Every person entering therapy deserves to have an individualized approach that will meet their specific goals. At Mindful Solutions NJ, we offer a free initial phone consultation so you have the chance to learn about the therapist you would work with prior to committing to fees or a long-term therapeutic relationship. During your consultation, we'll discuss your reasons for seeking counseling. You'll also have the chance to learn about your potential counselor's education, training and counseling approach.

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I know sometimes the journey to finding help may be bumpy. So give yourself some props for making it here. At times we all face struggles internal, external, and often a combination of both. I have observed that often we can feel stuck from these experiences, even if we’ve tried to move on from them. That is because we need a little guidance to process and buff out the imprint that remains in our system. It is my hope to help facilitate a path to finding more ease, feeling better, and move towards the life you want.

I am a therapist who believes strongly that talk therapy sometimes just isn't enough. Sometimes when a person experiences difficulties in life, their defenses can often get in the way. This is especially true when you are a child, have experienced trauma, or struggle with Eating Disorders. Sandplay therapy and other approaches can help break-down those barriers and promote healing.

One of the most essential things in life is for a person to know themselves deeply. This is not exclusive to either the so-called “good” or “bad” parts of ourselves, but rather involves taking inventory of all parts to be able to see the whole picture accurately. Whether it be learning to trust others, setting stronger boundaries, or gaining more self-compassion, we will work together to develop an individualized treatment plan that targets your needs. My approach is straightforward yet warm, inviting you to join a non-judgmental environment where you are encouraged to deeply explore your inner world.

We live in a face-paced world, often forgetting to take care of ourselves. We can become overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected in relationships, depressed, experience trauma, and so much more. Counseling allows us to process our emotional pain and use skills that will help us move forward, in a safe and nurturing environment.

Waitlist for new clients
Most of the work I do is with people struggling with the impact of trauma, including destructive behaviors and conflicted relationships. As a trauma survivor, I know how difficult it can be to rebuild your life and to learn to trust yourself and others. I am committed to helping my clients identify the sources of their pain, learn to tolerate those emotions, and develop new ways to cope and to live.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
