Please email for referral options* I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan with a speciality in Interpersonal Practice and Health. I completed my post-Graduate certificate in Sexual Health and Sex education at the University of Michigan and am a fully AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.

I am currently accepting new clients. My specialties include trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, depression, and anxiety. I am also passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, Women’s issues, and those who struggle with body image. As a queer black woman in a larger body I understand that simply existing in a society that has marginalized you can be a trauma in and of itself. I’m here to guide you on your journey to healing.

I have training and lived experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, pain, child and family issues, and perinatal mood disorders. I have worked with survivors of sexual abuse, clients struggling with suicidal ideation and self-harm, and parents/caregivers trying their best to raise strong and healthy children. As counselor, I see therapy involving a very individual, 'person centered' approach. "I believe that every person has the internal resources they need for growth & healing, and to find their direction and progress in the therapy process." I have seen people struggle for years with depression and/or anxiety caused by negative thoughts we have about ourselves from things we have been through in life, some things big and bad, others unintentional or seemingly benign. While we all experience challenges in life, you don't deserve to suffer and I can/want to help you find that relief. Medication helps, but is not the answer to long term recovery. Regular talk therapy can also be helpful, but often is not effective for recovery. EMDR therapy has been the most hopeful service for long term recovery I have found and the benefits can be physiologically understood.

Knowing no single approach is right for every individual, I am guided by a strengths-based philosophy allowing me to provide a safe non-judgmental environment to utilize a variety of modalities to meet the unique needs of each client. Spending my professional career specializing in women I have an expertise in intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, substance use, in addition to a variety of techniques to assist in healing.

As a queer therapist, it is crucial for me to ensure your concerns are taken seriously, and you are able to show up as your authentic self. Therapy means having a brave space to explore, reconnect with ourselves, and express emotions (maybe some laughing, crying, and swearing are involved too). I specialize working with folks that have experienced trauma & PTSD, anxiety, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ related concerns, and survivors of gender-based violence (i.e., sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking).

I am a clinical behavioral therapist with a private practice focusing mainly on children and families. I enjoy working with children and use various play techniques to explore the lagging skills which may have developed strong responses and behaviors to stressors in your child. There are many instances in which I will accept the parent as client to address behaviors in the home. I work with siblings when appropriate and have worked with clients ages 4-adulthood.
