I’m Bethany, a dedicated advocate with a passion for empowering women, children, and families in overcoming trauma and navigating life transitions. I primarily work with folks facing a wide range of challenges to reproductive and sexual wellness, including sexual trauma, intimate partner violence, perinatal mental health disorders, birth trauma, and pregnancy loss through termination or miscarriage. Through a person-centered lens, I create a safe space for clients to process their lived experiences and integrate them into their life stories.

It takes strength and courage to reach out for help. I have faced many challenges in childhood, as a mom, and in a relationship. I believe that the healing work I have done with these challenges has helped me to better show up with compassion and humility. We are all in this together. I work from a somatic body based trauma informed lens. I use the following modalities: brainspotting, cognitive therapy, music therapy, creative arts therapy, psychodrama, EMDR, experiential therapy, coaching, psychodramatic body work, advanced integrative therapy, and I am a Brene Brene Brown Daring Way Facilitator.

The need for therapy can arise from a number of personal challenges such as family conflicts, work or school problems, sudden losses, life transitions, daily stressors and mood instability. Being a licensed therapist allows me the opportunity to share the gift of psychotherapy with many struggling with mental illness and daily life trails. My 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist in New Orleans, along with my own life experience, has provided me with a solid knowledge base and depth which I bring to my work with young adults and adults. Most of my clients are ordinary people who have been sexually abused as children or adults, or are from alcoholic families, or are struggling with alcoholism in their current life. They may be having difficulty adjusting to changing circumstaaances in their lives due to divorce or loss of a family member or friend. Many of my clients are experiencing depression or anxiety or chronic worry.

I have worked with a broad range of clientele for over 20 years now ranging from 5yrs to 70yrs. My specialization is in adolescents, adults, couples, family counseling and addict family systems. I specialize in trauma focused therapy using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Ego State/IFS Therapy. The other counseling approaches I use are from a Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, or Person Centered view. You are unique in your issues and our therapeutic relationship is tailored to you. My approach is a respectful inquiry into my client’s personal issues to envision improved functioning and a future to move towards change. We will work toward positive thoughts feelings and behaviors to improve your life. I see children 12+ Adolescent/Teen, and adult clients in individual therapy.
