I am experienced with discussing religious trauma and patterns of distress to discover who you were, are, and who you want to become. I am a sex-positive, anti-oppressive therapist who focuses on trauma-informed methods when exploring identities. All identities are welcome and this includes sex workers, transhumans, polyamorous folx, kink/bdsm explorers, and questioning individuals.

It takes courage to come to therapy and most people do so when life seems unbearable. Others come because they want to grow in some way and believe therapy can make a difference in their lives. My ideal client is someone who is self-motivated and ready to "work" in therapy. I work with men, women and older adolescents. Life inherently brings challenges and overwhelming life circumstances that result in anxiety, depression or self destructive behavior patterns. During these times, the best intervention is someone objective to listen and the opportunity to "talk it through." I work through a person- centered approach helping people overcome what they see as problems that may be affecting their everyday life. I have experience with a few years in severe mental health working on crisis and working in prison systems. I am also experienced in sex addiction recovery with behavioral and substance abuse. My focus is to help people become more stable in life with life challenges. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focus, and Motivational Interviewing as just a few to be eclectic in my approach. I know that people are different and celebrate peoples differences.

Arlette has spent over 12 years in educational and non-profit settings, and now 8 years in private practice. Other notable experiences in her repertoire include leading grief groups, domestic violence groups, substance abuse treatment, and psychoeducation groups for adult probation. Arlette has advocated for her profession in state/local associations, and as President, wrote the bylaws for her local chapter. Arlette strives to expand her knowledge in the field, utilizing only evidence-based practices in psychotherapy.
