Through my training and experience as a queer sex therapist, I have a deep appreciation for the complexity of stress, life changes, internal stories and illness. I am a queer sex therapist, providing a relaxed, open, collaborative and non-judgmental atmosphere. My intention is to support people in the LGBTQIA+, non-monogamy, and kink communities (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diverse). I will cater my approach to your needs, but my natural style is straight-forward, so I tend to delve into the issues at hand so that you can see improvement in your emotional well-being as quickly as possible. Once immediate stressors have been calmed, we can work on a deeper level together in order to gain insight on underlying beliefs and experiences that may be contributing to your distress.

I specialize in sex addiction, sex therapy, relationship issues, codependency, as well as deep grief and trauma healing. I especially enjoy working with individuals and couples who are ready to do their work and live the life they are capable of living, but have never known the tools or path to get there. I am a highly skilled therapist who is expert at partnering with clients to feel better and improve quickly, then ease into the deeper healing work of grief, emotional neglect, and trauma. I also specialize in High Speed Intensives, which is a much faster therapy, and it helps us feel better and get better quicker.

I enjoy working with many individuals. My specialty is sex therapy. I am passionate about helping those who have low sexual arousal disorder or who have erectile dysfunction disorder. You may need help with your multiple relationships, your relationship structure, or just someone to talk to who will not wince when your sex life is brought up. You may be struggling with a recent diagnosis of a chronic illness and want to talk with someone about it who understands the gravity a chronic illness diagnosis can bring. I love for clients to educate me on their lived experiences!

During therapy I would help you process the emotions you are feeling and give you a safe space to access your emotions around sex and your relationship. Kat Burkhart is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) with over 4 years of experience working with adults and seniors who are seeking assistance in coping with anxiety, stress, ADHD, depression, dysfunctional relationships, life transitions, and sexual dysfunction. Kat works with many different kinds of people, but her main focus revolves around sex therapy. Kat earned her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Sex Therapy from Capella University. She tends to think outside the box and come up with coping skills, or techniques that may be outside of traditional methods.

Starting therapy can be intimidating. I am here to help as you begin this journey.
