Congratulations on taking your first step towards wellness! My name is Rachel Sword, and I have been a licensed counselor since 2007 – I practiced in North Carolina before moving to Texas in 2014, and have experience working in community mental health, emergency room and mobile crisis, and psychiatric hospital assessment and referral. I enjoy working with individuals and groups, from teens to adults and geriatric. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in Texas, as well as a board-certified National Certified Counselor. It is my privilege to have the opportunity to work with you on your journey.
I use a reality-based approach which is person-centered and trauma-informed, allowing me to focus on where you are emotionally and move forward from there at your own pace. During our work, I will use various techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt, solution-focused, and mindfulness.
My approaches are meant to enhance our therapeutic relationship so you can obtain the most effective treatment, and I welcome feedback during our sessions on what is and is not working well so you can continue making forward progress.
