motivation, self acceptance, and creativity. I practice a body-based therapy called Somatic Experiencing that is a gentle approach to healing PTSD and symptoms of trauma. These include anxiety, depression, physical symptoms, and difficulty staying grounded in the present. We may use methods informed by my experience and training in contemplative practices and expressive therapies along with psychodynamic and cognitive therapies.
Tools may be used in a session that support present moment awareness including Somatic Experiencing, Authentic Movement, Gestalt, Mindfulness-Based therapies, and Non-Violent Communication. Also,using a Psychodynamic orientation, the therapy relationship can be used as a mirror to help understand other relationships in your life.
As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner I have completed an in depth three year training in trauma therapy. Using SE gently supports your body and nervous system to complete previously thwarted natural responses and relieves longstanding symptoms. I also offer holistic alternative therapies, cognitive approaches and expressive art and movement when appropriate.
