Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LCSW-R
I adapt my working methods to the needs of each individual who applies for psychotherapy; supporting someone in understanding a crisis event such as divorce, loss of a loved person or pet, or unusual stress or trauma. I work psychoanalytically when the therapy reaches a deeper level. My overall preference is to work with adults who are ready to sit down and commit to the interplay of understanding themselves at close range. Often this need arises during times of crisis and that is always a good time for beginning this life affirming process.
As an artist as well, my practice also reaches out to artists and writers who are experiencing inhibitions in expression or are facing difficulties in combining their survival skills with those of their artistic drives. A commitment to a once a week session is desirable.
In the tradition of Freud who said that 'dreams are the royal road to the unconscious,' I ask my clients, when available, to bring their dreams to our sessions. I speak French, Spanish and Turkish during the sessions if needed.
