Our mission is to help individuals, families, and groups explore the issues keeping them from a satisfying and fulfilling life. FWCAI's clinically trained therapists offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, seeking the best solution for each client. We offer an integrated approach to counseling, using a biblical worldview and our skills and experience to offer counseling from a Christian perspective, although we also use traditional and cutting edge therapeutic approaches and integrate them into our practice where helpful. Not every client shares our worldview, and this integrated approach allows us to serve clients not seeking distinctly Christian counseling.

I work with preteens, adolescents, adults, and families that may be dealing with depression, anxiety, communication, anger, low self-esteem, self-harming behaviors, drug and alcohol addictions.
As individuals, we experience influences, temptations, trials and tribulations in different times in our lives, which can leave you feeling hopeless, helpless, out of control or like you have failed. I understand how life and environments can become a routine, a pattern, and sometimes an unhealthy cycle. I am here to help you identify and make steps toward being the kind of person or family you want to be.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families who struggle with poor communication, boundary issues, behavioral problems, depression, anxiety, and self harming behaviors. I specialize in treating teens and adults by incorporating Reality Therapy with Art Therapy techniques. By using creative expression clients are able to get in touch with what they feel, learn what they want, evaluate their behavior and make a plan for achieving the outcomes they desire. By choosing healthy thoughts and behaviors the client chooses a more fulfilling life.

I have experience working with adolescents with self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideations, anxiety, and depression.
Counseling services available in English and Spanish. Finding it challenging to see the positive things in your life? Stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma can make us feel hopeless that it prevents us from experiencing life in an optimistic way. Sometimes those difficult feelings or negative experiences can make us feel like we are just surviving the day instead of enjoying life. I am here to help you find your purpose again and start living! All it takes is you taking the first steps in wanting something different for yourself to get different results. Change can be hard, but simply surviving the day is harder.

Sometimes life's challenges can leave you feeling defeated. The trauma you've experienced, the troubles you encounter, or even the major life changes that you go through can have you in a dark place. Regardless of what you have been through, there is always light at the end of the darkest tunnels. Sometimes, we may just need a little help getting out of that tunnel or seeing the light. My goal is to collaborate with you to help you get through whatever challenges you are struggling with overcoming and help you see that light in your life. I truly believe that there is no challenge that you can not overcome.

Therapy is for you! So, I want to truly hear you, make you feel valued, and empathetically empower you to embrace and express your most authentic self as we collaboratively nurture a full and meaningful life—whatever this means for you. I not only believe you possess the capacity for positive transformation, but I also believe you are worthy of genuine loving-kindness, inner tranquility, and the opportunity to grow and go whichever direction fills your soul’s cup. As such, I cultivate a safe and validating space in which you can heal, change, unwind, vent, self-care, or whatever else you may need.

My primary experience has been working with adolescents and teens. However, I find many of those same principles can successfully be applied in our adulthood. In connecting with clients, I support your self-esteem and self-discovery through a Christian perspective. Life can be a challenge at times and there is no judgement or shame seeking out therapy. Congratulations on taking the first step and acknowledging the importance of your mental health!

Sometimes we just get stuck and need a little help getting through it. I'd love the opportunity to be the person that can come into your life and guide you through getting "unstuck" and connecting again with trust and patience. Through working with clients I am able to help people break through the stigma of mental health and build healthy relationships.

Hi! My name is Natalie. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas. I have been providing counseling to small children all the way up to geriatric individuals for a little over 6 years now. I am only providing telehealth therapy at this time, and I do not offer couples' counseling. My view of therapy is that each individual knows what's best for their own life; they just need someone to guide them to whatever that solution or truth is. That's where I come in! I am an expert in mental health, but you are the expert in YOU.

I am a counselor because I believe you are worth experiencing healing despite your past or current challenges and traumas. We live in a broken world, but that does not mean hope, healing, and joy are not possible, because they are. I care about providing a safe space for you to grieve, grow, and take back your life. It is a privilege to learn about the experiences that have shaped you and to walk alongside you as you step into freedom. I believe in the importance of addressing the mind, body, and soul collectively so that you can achieve health in all facets of life.

Over the past 15 years, I have had the unique opportunity to counsel people in Europe, Asia and North America. In my work, I have had the privilege of counseling people of various ages, nationalities, races and cultures. I have found that although human suffering has many faces, all people have common needs and desires. We all want health and wellness. We all want to prosper and be successful in what we do. We all strive for perfection. I strongly believe that everyone has the power and potential to overcome interpersonal struggles, relational difficulties, and life crises.

Self-Harming Therapists

How does therapy for self-harm work?

A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behavior therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.

Which therapies are best for self-harm?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.

Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?

Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
