I am a licensed clinical therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults with a wide array of emotional, cognitive and behavioral concerns. I am currently serving the Lake County area at Counseling and Behavioral Solutions, Inc in Leesburg but have worked in outpatient agencies, inpatient settings, and within the public school system. I feel my varied experience has equipped me to meet the client where they are in their personal journey toward emotional stability and balance, while also helping them navigate and advocate for their needs in the larger community.

Over the past decade in practice, I have worked primarily with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues and suicidal ideation. I am trained in different modalities, which support my clients and teach coping skills that can reduce anxiety, depression and even self-harming behaviors. I approach the therapeutic relationship with each client collaboratively and with a non-judgmental approach. My objective is to have each client reach their indiviual therapy goals for optimal health.

My work is influenced by the integration of several different forms of psychotherapy as well as mindfulness and holistic practices. I integrate EMDR therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, into many aspects of my work. I have experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, cutting and self harm, and bereavement. My ongoing professional development includes levels I, II and III of EMDR training. I am currently qualified to practice EMDR based therapy with adults, adolescents, and children. I have received advanced training in attachment trauma in children from the Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska.

Shannon specializes in children and adolescent issues, couples therapy, and trauma recovery. She has expereince in helping those suffering from life struggles such as depression, anxiety, cutting issues, sexual abuse recovery, marriage issues, and daily life problems.
