My clinical training has centered clients experiencing challenges such as complex trauma and PTSD, identity and culture, relationships/attachment, self esteem and acceptance, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and grief.
Accepting new clients! My practice as a social worker and therapist is grounded in the belief that the most effective treatment, and transformative healing, takes place within relationships- in the therapy room, and in our communities. Nurturing a therapeutic alliance rooted in connection, safety, and radical acceptance is central to my approach. As a saathi (companion, ally) on your healing journey, I am here to offer care and support as you process and integrate your experiences, navigate current challenges, and develop your innate strengths along with new skills.

At my core, I am a relational therapist and do my best work with couples, non-monogamous romantic partnerships, and families of all forms, including co-parents who are no longer in romantic partnerships. I believe that systemic therapy is a way to create meaningful change and get unstuck from the patterns that no longer serve us.

I love to work with supervisees and mentees (supervision of supervision) as we grow, laugh, and learn together. The process of deepening knowledge, experience, and wisdom can be rewarding for both the supervisor and supervisee. I approach supervision and mentorship from a structural supervision perspective as I believe we all thrive with the right balance of structure and support. I use a good amount of humor and curiosity in my approach, as I believe the elements of fun, delight, and joy are important parts of the professional growth process. If we work together, you will be challenged and you will be uplifted.

When engaging in therapeutic work I promise to show up with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to learn. When we are in session together, we are a team. Over the last five years I have worked with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, shame, self-harm, suicidal ideation, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, past trauma, recent trauma, and those who are exploring sexuality and gender identities. I have spent the last few years working with with individuals who had a very wide range of ages, mental health symptoms, life goals, cultural backgrounds, neurodiversities, and lived experiences.

Currently accepting new clients. I work with couples, polycules, new relationships, platonic life partners, families and groups. I am passionate about serving folks who are part of the LGBTQIA+ and poly/ethical non-monogamy communities. Living in a society that prioritizes profit over people and systematically privileges & oppresses based on identity takes a large toll. I believe therapy is a resource to help us navigate this world & be intentional about how we show up in ourselves and our relationships. My approach is to meet people where they are at and provide tools, resources, and practices to aid them in living authentically.

You are the authority on how you describe yourself or your experience; not me. Those who find the most success in our work together seek therapy that has a conversational tone rather than an evaluation. They are ready to address harmful experiences, establishing a path forward, while existing in a society that prioritizes individualism and profit. As a non-pathologizing provider, diagnoses will only be used when required and with your permission.

As a queer, neurodivergent counselor, I believe that an individual's identity is integral to the therapy process. I understand that each person has a unique perspective, shaped by their experiences and intersecting identities. My goal is to empower emerging adults by collaborating to share knowledge, reframe negative internalizations, and foster self-congruence. My theoretical orientation is primarily trauma-informed and person-centered, influenced by feminist and civil rights leaders. My approach is integrative, holistic, and process-focused, in service of identifying pragmatic, achievable solutions.

My style in session is warm, collaborative, relational, and strengths-based. Values that inform my work are compassion and anti-oppression. Many of the clients I work with are seeking ways to strengthen their relationships, healing trauma, tending to anxiety, depression and neurodivergence, exploring identity (racial, gender, sexual, cultural etc.), softening perfectionism, and/or cultivating a stronger sense of self-worth. If you would like to learn more, I would be happy to schedule a complimentary consultation call where we can explore if we would be a good fit for what you are seeking.

As a therapist, I see my clients as the experts in their own lives. My role is akin to that of a guest—here to build upon the tools you already possess while introducing new ones that align with your life goals. I enjoy guiding clients through challenging life changes and helping them break patterns that no longer serve them. My experience primarily lies in working with teens and adults, including LGBTQIA+ youth and individuals with BIPOC identities.

Pull up a bean bag chair, grab your favorite fidget, and let's talk. Maybe you describe your life as "a lot," and struggle to find the spoons to get all your stuff done as well as make meaningful change. Maybe anxiety takes up so much space in your day that it leaves little room for the things you want. Maybe your story includes trauma, and that burden is getting so heavy, it hurts. You want to pursue fulfillment, satisfaction, meaning, and peace in your world. If any of these or other painful places in your heart are true, I would love to get a chance to walk alongside you and find what you're looking for together.

As a therapist, and human in general, I am passionate about creating space for the stories and emotions that are so often pushed away, hidden from view, and disavowed. I believe that to be seen, heard, and accepted in these tender places can be a profoundly healing experience, even (and especially) when there is "nothing to do about it," other than bear witness and grieve. An important piece of this process is moving towards a way of being that centers less around achieving, perfecting and “doing” and much more around “being.” Being present, being messy, being perfectly imperfect and ok with slow processes and uncertainties.

Our lives are shaped by the stories that we carry with us. Healing begins when we can safely share them with others. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process in which we get to recontextualize those stories through truthful and empowering reframes. Therapy is best done when we can show up authentically. The therapeutic relationship is arguably one of the most important factors that determine success in therapy. For that reason, I strive to create a space where there is mutual respect, trust, and authenticity.

In times that can seem harsh and unfair, it can be hard to find a way forward. I believe that our problems are not “all in your head.” There are real reasons we feel the way we feel, and those reasons and feelings deserve to be heard and honored. Systemic oppression, world events, and childhood experiences have a real effect on us. If the world has ever told you who you are is “not okay”, it may feel dangerous just to exist in certain spaces, let alone to act on your feelings and desires. I hope our work will help you better understand how to unite your Self, your values, and your circumstances to build the life you want to live.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
