I have been in the field since 2002 working with many people. I have experience with depression, self-esteem challenges, behavioral issues, issues within the relationship and family bond, and bipolar disorder. These are a only handful of the client's I have worked with. I have experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger's ; however, I've worked with all types of Intellectually Capable individuals. I've also done a lot of work with parents both in the home and on the residential level. And I love working with couples.

Do you feel stuck, despite being highly self-aware? Have you tried talk therapy before and it felt nice to vent, but it didn’t really create the transformation or deep healing and relief from anxiety you were looking for? I help millennial women like you by using a holistic approach to therapy. I combine EMDR therapy, art therapy, IFS therapy and somatic practices like nervous system regulation to heal at the root of your issues, discover what you want out of life, and create lasting changes. I also offer EMDR Intensives for those who want to heal NOW and don't want to spend months or even years in the traditional therapy model.

I think one of the bravest things you can do is speak out loud, the things that scare and confuse you. Navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma can be challenging when dealt with alone. In a non-judgmental but curious way let’s unpack emotions, challenge thinking patterns/behaviors, and learn to live authentically and not be in survival mode.

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. My approach in facilitating change, wellness, and personal growth includes using a humanistic lense in therapy. I believe that the client knows best what they are ready to do, and comes to therapy with the desire for change, as well as the skills necessary for personal growth - even if they are currently not accessible. In our work, we will identify your unique strengths and values, and collaborate on envisioning a life that’s meaningful and authentic to you while letting go of who you've been told that you’re supposed to be.

Finding the right therapist can be a difficult task. You have to think of what it is you would like to work on and if the person smiling to your left will "get" you. This is a good time to introduce myself.

We are all the products of our earliest emotional conditioning. A majority of us do not come from ideal upbringings due to the complexities of parenting. As a result, we all experience, and become accustomed to, varying levels of irritation and develop a "pushing away" defense to real intimacy. Because of this common dynamic, many people become creatures of maladaptive habits and develop destructive habits, ego deficits, and severe intimacy issues. If this sounds familiar to you, please consider calling me.

The only way to change is to define who you are and then change your habits to align with who your new self is. It's as simple as that, but the problem that arises the most with the clients who come into my office is; who is this new person I want to be. This can be difficult, because many times there are many underlying factors that prevent us, or that we perceive prevent us from taking the steps we need to move forward. It is my job is to help you realize what great potential you have inside you already. With that said let's work together to pick apart the old ideas you have of yourself, and create a new pathway forward.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
