My specialities are in serving adolescents from middle to high school struggling with hearing their own voice in the loud world of being a teen, college students transitioning into adulthood needing support with fostering independence, and women's self esteem challenges with body image, self doubt, and assertive communication with boundaries.
I enjoy working collaboratively with clients using Narrative therapy to help YOU become the AUTHOR of your own story. I support my clients in holding the pen to change their narrative and break free from any stories that no longer serve them. I enjoy international travel and learning about various cultural customs! This gives me a unique perspective to meet client's at the core of who they are. I invite clients to teach me about their world view and unique cultural experiences so I can best serve them.

Many people experience anxiety, depression, and low-self-esteem. Often, they feel there is no one to trust and no one who can understand them. The impact of this emotional suffering can make daily life painful. It can put strain on relationships with family, friends, and peers. I specialize in working with individuals and have found that there are similar challenges that we all face while trying to navigate through our daily lives.

You think you're handling things, but then somewhere along the way, you've lost your grip. You can't sleep, you can't calm yourself down, and it seems like everyday stress deeply impacts you. You've tried but you can't reason with your thoughts. You know they're dark, or dramatic, or too anxious, but you can't seem to stop the cycle. Maybe it's impacting you internally only. Maybe it's affecting your work. Maybe you're losing friendships or relationships because of the emotions that take over so easily. It's exhausting. Whatever the case, you know it's time for help. Surely somebody knows the way out of this mess.

Feeling stuck? overwhelmed? unhappy? stressed? Need a "tune up"? Are you starting a new relationship, job, in a long-term relationship, raising kids, trying to get healthy physically, emotionally, or socially? These things are supposed to make us happy and give us fulfillment, right? We expect we will handle these changes with ease. These transitions can be hard. Some are comfortable with change and don't miss a beat when there is a shift in our lives, however, many of us find ourselves confused, frustrated, stressed, anxious or depressed. I can help you sort out the changes in your life.

It can be difficult to ask for help, especially from someone you don't know at a time when you are feeling depressed, anxious, or traumatized. But making a call is your first step towards positive change. My first priority is to provide you with a safe and supportive setting, so we can work together to find the tools you need to solve the issues that brought you into therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neurofeedback if indicated, both are non-drug therapies, scientifically supported methods shown to promote fast, effective and enduring change. Together we will work on your goals for healing, wellbeing, and a sense of purpose.

You're a smart, sensitive soul who knows how to get shit DONE. People can count on you because you're the responsible, reliable "giver" who makes sure others' wants and needs are met. On the outside, it seems like you've got it all together. But your mind is often a maelstrom of worry and turmoil, anticipating worst-case scenarios and disaster. Your inner critic whispers (or shouts!) in your ear: "Maybe you're just not good enough...you're failing...you're a fraud." Your outer success is a double-edged sword, rewarding you with the external validation that makes you feel worthy but keeps you on the approval-seeking hamster wheel.

Therapy can be a very scary process. From having to call one to having your first meeting and then doing the work. This is especially so when you are facing difficult times or remembering events that you've struggled with for some time and realize that this is what is holding us back to our fullest expression. In our work together, I will bring nurturance and support as we explore the underlying causes to what brings you distress. I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental environment to explore freely.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
