Did you recently suffer a breakup in a relationship? Are you forever choosing wrong partners? How are your relationships in general, even if they are not romantic? Are you suicidal, angry, depressed, anxious, worried, suffering from past trauma you cannot shake? Are you repeatedly struggling with addiction? Are you questioning your sexual orientation? Are seeking acceptance? Is your self-esteem suffering? Do you struggle from religious abuse? So many issues can overwhelm us, but there is ALWAYS a positive solution.

In the 20+ years I've worked in the helping profession, I've been honored to walk with many individuals on their personal paths of self discovery. Bearing witness to their journeys has inspired me on my own path, both professionally and personally. I have found my interest concentrated on Human Sexuality. My intention is to provide an open and safe environment for individuals to explore concerns and questions related to aspects of their sexuality and gender expression. By exploring how this impacts one's personal experience, close relationships and lives, insight can be gained and self esteem improved. Areas of focus include:

I enjoy working with teens and adults from all backgrounds! I usually connect well with people who had developmental or complex trauma in childhood, as well as young adults struggling with the transition to "adulting." I have experience helping with low self-esteem, general anxiety, social anxiety, chronic illness, codependency, trauma, and depression. I believe we all go through challenges in life and need to work on our mental health to reach our full potential. You can do it, even when it's scary! You are the expert on your own life and have more strengths than you realize! I would be honored to meet with you.

You've always thought of yourself as an artistic, empathic, and intuitive woman. Yet here you are, disconnected from your inner self and the wisdom you know is buried inside. There has to be a purpose to all of this, but the chaos & frantic pace of life is leaving you off-balance. Creativity is a distant dream, relationships are stretched, and your joy is lacking. You long to create a dynamic sense of wholeness, to find your purpose and meaning, but it's a constant struggle. If only the world would stop for a minute. If only you didn't feel everything so deeply. If only you had a moment to re-connect or at least a moment to breathe

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
