At my office you will find a comfortable office space where you are free to be yourself; comfortable enough to kick off your shoes and relax as we discuss your struggles, challenges, goals.

During times of struggle or change having someone to help you through is invaluable. An outside perspective can be beneficial in navigating through and overcoming challenges. As a team, we can get through those tough times. You are an individual and as such my approach varies with what works best for you. Empathy and compassion are key components of client care. My skills have a wide range of applicability and I am passionate about my work. Whether it is skill building, understanding oneself, trauma, human sexuality, or another mental health need; I can help. We all need a little help sometimes; all you need to do is ask.

I feel fortunate to have a career in a helping profession. I understand how stress from life events, relationships, &/or intrusive thinking patterns can take their toll & create an intense struggle in one's life. I am honored & committed to facilitate hope & provide the most effective counseling possible. I'm a strong believer that a good therapeutic relationship is key to client progress. Effective therapy requires a team-oriented approach, placing emphasis on the clients agenda. For awhile now you have felt like something is “off,” that something in your life you used to count on is missing. My approach is light-hearted, and evidence informed. I often integrate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectics, and psychodynamics into my education-based style. We will certainly work on attachment concerns and healthy "relating," too.

I am passionate about helping others. This passion led to years of study and becoming skilled in several effective forms of treatment. I enjoy working with people to create a shared vision and plan to achieve the changes they seek. I am committed to serving those I work with and to that end I believe in providing all of the information needed to make an informed decision about our approach. I endeavor to create an environment of safety and sincerity and to aid in developing increased self-acceptance and compassion.

I work with individual adults and couples from all economic, racial, sexual orientation and cultural sectors. I specialize in working with clients who have diverse backgrounds and relationship dynamics. It’s important to me that you feel safe, validated and supported in therapy. My goal is to help you realize your full potential and work through whatever it is that’s blocking you from achieving it. I use an action-oriented approach to therapy that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies together with commitment and behavioral strategies to create life flexibility and long lasting changes. It can feel very isolating to look in the mirror and not recognize the face staring back at you. Sometimes, you can feel so lost that you forget where your journey first began. Or perhaps, you never had the time to figure out the direction you wanted to go. Stress, loneliness, sadness, and pain have become your companions, and while you can feel your feet on the ground, more often than not, you find your heart and mind drifting elsewhere. Whether you are in the midst of a painful experience or have been fighting to survive for years, there is more to your life than hardship. There is hope. There is healing. And there is purpose.

It can be extremely frustrating to feel stuck, like you just can’t get out of a rut, whether that be a habit, behavior, relationship, or something else, and it can be hard to try and overcome it alone. While making the decision to ask for help can feel just as challenging as whatever you’re trying to overcome, it is such an important step to make to start getting out of that rut. In the past I have found myself stuck too, and have had to work through issues of motivation and lack of purpose through avoidance. After finding that purpose in life through my work and the outdoors, I love helping others find their own way too.

We all want to find happiness and meaning in life, but there are often things that get in the way of accessing our natural ability to live a joyful, fulfilling life. If balance is hard to find, if thoughts or emotions are preventing you from being your true self, if you’re wanting to more fully enjoy the life you are living, counseling may be a good fit for you. Maybe you are in the throes of infertiility or adoption. Maybe you have experienced a pregnancy loss or the death of a baby. You might be struggling with anxiety or depression during pregnancy, postpartum, or motherhood. You may have had a traumatic birth experience.

I am certified in EMDR and provide EMDR consultation to my colleagues. My passion is using EMDR therapy to help clients access their innate ability to heal, to grow, and to thrive in all areas of their lives. I have experience working with both teenagers and adults. EMDR therapy is effective for a variety of symptoms including depression, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and relationship troubles.

I believe that timing is everything in therapy. Our work together requires you to feel a nudge, no matter how small towards a desired change. I work with adults who want to work through their trauma, because they recognize that it prevents them from recovering from their eating disorder or living an anxiety free life.
