About

I believe therapy can only be effective if there is a trusting, collaborative relationship between client and therapist. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where strengths are identified as well as areas in need of growth. Together we will work to overcome obstacles that have been preventing you from achieving goals. I am passionate about working with people of color and those exploring their various identities. I have been honored to work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, homelessness, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, life transitions and that seemingly elusive work-life balance.
I utilize evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and Short-term Solution Focused Therapy. I am a member of the NASW, International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and recipient of the Promise award, presented by the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCADSV) for outstanding advocacy. Sliding scale rates are available.

Sekai K Ward's Groups

Writing to Heal

Writing to Heal is a six-week, 60 minute therapeutic writing group. Studies indicate that expressive writing is a self-reflective tool that can improve mental health and overall well-being. Writing can help us process complex emotions and provide a greater understanding of ourselves and the events that have shaped who we are. Come join us! Next group starts May 1, 2022 and runs through June 5, 2022. No writing experience required. All sessions are virtual so you can write in your PJs. For more information and to register, text Sekai at 734.678.7802
