I also offer in person services via my mobile office in Rapid City and Box Elder, SD.
If you’re a working professional just trying to make it through the week, a mil spouse who’s tired of “blooming where you’re planted,” a first responder running on empty, or a veteran who’s tired of pretending everything’s fine—this space is for you. You’ve probably learned to keep it together for everyone else. But here, you get to take a breath. Alongside therapy, I also offer supervision and consultation for other clinicians seeking grounded, real-world support. Schedule your free consult and we’ll figure it out together.

I think of therapy as a compassionate collaboration. Clients and I form a partnership in which we work together to not only change behavior, but to understand why we continue to make the same mistakes. We also develop a "roadmap" to avoid future problems by learning to spot "red flags" that may trigger old behaviors. Learning new coping skills and strengthening old ones are an intregal part of this process.

Hi, I’m Ali Anderson. I’m a trauma-informed therapist who works with adults and teens navigating the intersections of emotional intelligence, identity, embodiment, and relationships. I believe therapy is a space where we learn to be more human and where we build a deeper relationship with ourselves. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that growth happens when we feel safe, seen, and supported. I believe that therapy should be individualized. I integrate EMDR, somatic and parts work, DBT, and humanistic therapies to help you move through stuck patterns and into a more meaningful life.

Now accepting new clients for telehealth in SD & MN, and in-person sessions in Sioux Falls.
Feeling stuck despite insight? Let’s work with what’s actually blocking change. I work with thoughtful, self-aware adults who understand their patterns but still feel stuck, or who sense there is something deeper going on but are not sure how to access it yet. On the outside, things may look stable. Internally, something feels off. Patterns repeat, change does not stick, and relief feels out of reach. I help you understand and work through the deeper emotional patterns driving these cycles so you can experience more clarity, freedom, and meaningful change.

Do you feel like the challenges you face in life are making you (and your loved ones) out to be crazy, a burden or a problem? I aim to carve out a comfortable healing space for people who are faced with problems that may be tricky to unravel, obstinate to change or that simply need a place to be aired-out and heard. I am interested in meeting people who may struggle to find a good fit with other counselors or people who are new to therapy and looking for a comfortable, personal and respectful relationship.

Taking a few new clients. In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer there is the Island of Misfit Toys, filled with playthings that seek love but are rejected because they don’t function like traditional toys. Many people we work with feel the same way. They have beautiful personalities, but for one reason or another they just don’t “fit.” Sometimes that shows up through troubles at work or home. Sometimes people just can’t get out of bed each morning. Whatever your challenge, we want you to know you have a home. At Credo, we’ll help you embrace what is unique in you and navigate what often feels like a foreign world.

You’ve done therapy before. You understand your patterns, your history, and why you are the way you are—yet something still feels stuck. Insight alone hasn’t brought the relief you hoped for. Your mind keeps working overtime, analyzing and managing, while your body holds tension, emotion, and old survival responses that never quite settle. There’s a sense that healing lives somewhere deeper than words, and that thinking your way forward isn’t enough anymore.

Although I have specialized in the full spectrum of eating disorders for over 30 years, my passion is working with emotional eating/BED and weight-loss coaching. I have developed a program called "the glow approach" which will help you develop a healthy relationship with food, which means 1) putting food back in its place as nourishment for your body and learning which foods "work for you" for health and weight-loss; and 2) identifying what role(s) food plays in your life: a coping mechanism to manage feelings, avoid issues, fill a void, and/or self-medicate underlying mental-health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD.

I offered in person therapy sessions or I am available online with online support.
People often come to seek treatment after a major change in their life. While seeking support during life setbacks, it is also important to seek help and learn coping skills before it becomes too overwhelming. Life is dynamic. I have helped support a diverse group of people throughout my career including young adults leaving foster care, veterans, active duty members. It is very rewarding to support people to live their life to the fullest.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
