I offer in-person and telehealth sessions, with evening and weekend availability, because I know life doesn’t always fit into a 9–5 schedule. If you’re ready to take the next step toward healing and growth, I’d be honored to walk that path with you—one step at a time.

While I work with adolescents to senior adults with a variety of issues, I am drawn to working with couples, the grieving, those with family relationship challenges/conflict, helping professionals experiencing burnout, those with trauma backgrounds, and those going through significant life transitions.
Do you know you need to heal from past hurts but don't know where to even start? Hi, I'm Jen and I am a licensed professional counselor, friend, Christian, wife, and mother of four. I am warm, kind, real, and compassionate and I work to honor your courage to be vulnerable and will do my best to meet you where you're at. The power of support, encouragement, and feeling seen can lead to better decisions and renewed hope. Identifying negative patterns and finding ways to reroute how we think is a powerful strategy for creating a better life.

Now accepting new clients! Sometimes the patterns of life no longer serve us well - maybe relationships have started feeling distant, there are fewer breaks from the buzz of anxiety, or the voice of your self-critic is getting louder. You deserve meaningful connection, to know what it is to feel grounded, and self-compassion. Counseling offers time set apart to pause, connect, and grow into new ways of thriving. Together, we’ll gently explore the stories and relationships that have shaped you and identify and sharpen your strengths that have been there all along.

I treat a variety of mental health issues and diagnoses with adolescents and adults.
Over the course of the lifespan, we naturally experience higher and lower periods, a mild roller-coaster that ebbs and flows as we grow. In addition to life’s natural roller-coaster, many encounter depression, heightened anxiety, or traumatic experiences that cause greater difficulties in life. Therapy is for both the natural ebbs and flows of life to assist with helpful coping strategies to encounter the changes that life brings and for those who are experiencing greater mental health difficulties.

I have worked with many clients with complex grief which included leading grief therapy groups for children and youth.
I build strong therapeutic relationships with clients that are looking for a person-centered approach. I aim to empower my clients by identifying their strengths, reinforcing them and walking with them as challenges arise. A balance of challenge and empathy can be anticipated in our sessions to promote growth and connection. I hope that my clients come with willingness to move towards self-exploration, autonomy and acceptance. My background in various approaches, training and work environments allowed for flexible approaches for each of my clients. Leaving them with the ability to explore choices and care options.

One of the greatest tragedies I witness is when individuals aren't living their lives to the fullest. Trauma, setbacks, addictions, and life's challenges often hinder us from becoming our true selves. Throughout my experience, I've had the privilege of working with diverse groups. Men, young adults, and veterans have been particularly rewarding to work with. As it is a start to a new year, why not get off on the right foot or tackle that thing you should have gotten to a long time ago. This can be the start of a great new chapter in your life.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. You may be feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, trying to make sense of painful past experiences, or seeking new ways to cope with life stressors. Anxiety or depression may be making it hard to feel like yourself. You might be navigating a major life transition, exploring your identity, or simply longing for a space where you can be understood without judgment. If you can relate, this might be the space for you.

By working with ages from adolescents and pre- teens to adults, I can be that bridge to fill the gap of unanswered questions and thoughts that our minds have attached to.
First, I want to thank you for being here. The first step is, as we say in the therapy world, the hardest, and by giving yourself that ounce of opportunity you unknowingly have already started your healing journey. Whether you are here because of past trauma, current life circumstances, or attempting to navigate the day to day, know you found the space to create the life you want to live. It is my goal to make therapy a little less intimidating, as we know life is hard on its own. Instead, this is a journey to overcome, manage, and most importantly empower yourself to know you are no longer a victim to what you have lived.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
