My ideal client is exploring change and considering what it may look like. Whether that is change in their relationships, lifestyle, career, family life, social life, etc... They recognize that a change needs to happen. Their goal is to decrease stress from the current behavior that continues to go on and they desire to find a different way to deal with issues that come up in life. They know what needs to change and the thought of doing something different is scary and overwhelming.

You've spent decades showing up for everyone else. And now — somewhere in your 30s, 40s, or 50s — something has shifted. Your sleep is fractured. Emotions feel out of sync. Your focus slips in ways that scare you. Your sense of self feels blurry. No one prepared you for this. Maybe doctors have told you it's "just stress" or "just aging." But what you're experiencing has a neurological explanation. Perimenopause and menopause change your brain, not just your body. That's not weakness. That's biology meeting an unsupported life transition.

Are you feeling weighed down by anxiety, trauma, grief, or conflict in relationships? You may appear strong on the outside but inside feel stuck, overwhelmed, or exhausted. You long for relief, clarity, and deeper connection—and you’re tired of “just coping.” Most of all, you want a safe place to feel seen, understood, and supported in creating lasting change. If this sounds like you, know you don’t have to carry it alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you with compassion, guidance, and tools to help you heal and thrive.

Often, people come to therapy when something feels off—when stress builds, emotions feel harder to manage, or joy feels distant. You might be carrying anxiety, persistent sadness, or emotional exhaustion, even if you can’t fully explain why. Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and find steadier ground. I work with children, individuals, and couples, and I am extensively trained in trauma-informed care, anxiety, and depression. For couples, I’m trained in the Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach that helps partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationship.

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
