I feel a "calling" to help adults and teens through counseling! I offer clients deep compassion, unconditional acceptance, and understanding. Often we believe the worst about ourselves! We lose sight of our own value, our own beauty, and self worth. We become depressed or constantly anxious, feel lost, maybe even broken on the inside. But, counseling can change that! I provide a safe environment that is consistently supportive, empathetic, and empowering! I will help you see yourself anew, grieve your losses, face your fears, and help you locate your deep self and reconnect to your life's purpose. A natural joy will follow!

I like to use psychodrama, gestalt and somatic exercises.
My ideal client would want an integration of both the psychological and spiritual parts of themselves. The ideal client would have mood disorders as indicated by their thinking and language patterns and these would be noted and worked on in a compassionate and empathic manner. My ideal client would be struggling with making meaning and having purpose in their everyday lives, their work, their marriages, their parenting as they struggle with an up and down emotional life. My ideal client might too be suffering from an addiction and attachment to primary care-givers in their lives and looking for a spiritual answer to their wounds.

You feel stuck—dissatisfied, anxious, grief or lonely. Life’s challenges, like trauma, infidelity, disrespect, depression, loneliness or grief, have left you overwhelmed and disconnected from your emotional truths. Denying these truths might feel safer, but it only deepens the struggle. You want to feel peace, rebuild trust in yourself and others, and find joy again. By reconnecting with your true emotions, you can uncover meaning, strengthen relationships, and create a life filled with purpose and authenticity. The journey starts with respecting and valuing yourself enough to take that first step.

It's important to find the right therapist you can trust. I have worked as a therapist for 39 years to help people heal and grow into who they really are. We are created with natural instincts to connect, trust, and love. When we experience early suffering, distress, or trauma, it disrupts our development, and we develop strategies to deal with the challenges and pain. The NARM approach assists us in coming back to our God-given nature by exploring how we adapted to survive difficult circumstances as children. This awareness helps connect us to our ability to choose how we want to respond to life and its challenges.

Our feelings are signals not problems. They get louder, or shut down, when we don’t know how to respond to them. I dedicated my life to understanding and releasing trauma. As a result, I’ve come to understand the rupture that defines the traumatic condition is collective. What we see out there, in the world, the struggle and strife, reflects the conditions we’ve all inherited. Pain is a signal that something needs attention. Our relationship with self needs attention. Of course it does. Healing is realized through Hopeful Empowered Active Living and that’s our natural state.

What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
