Life can be overwhelming-leaving little time or energy for peaceful introspection. I use a warm acceptance and humor to help clients face challenging dilemmas. Without understanding the motivation behind our impulses, we can lose our way, sometimes getting stuck for years, and developing maladaptive emotional coping difficulties. I help people recognize and overcome their self-limiting belief systems, generating greater self knowledge, confidence and having the ability to tolerate the emotional strains of contemporary living. I have over 20 years of work experience in the trauma field- working with both survivors and perpetrators of abuse.
Scott draws from different theoretical models, including EMDR, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic approaches, ego state models, and various trauma/dissociation models- to help clients became aware of, and change the influences of maladaptive coping. He works adolescents and adults who struggle with symptoms of PTSD, Complex PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Life Transition Adjustments.
Scott is a co-founder and executive director of Barron Morse Counseling- a Trauma Informed Mental Health Agency in Saco Maine. Scott is an EMDRIA approved clinician, serves on the Board of Southern Maine Regional EMDRIA, provides clinical consultation and advanced training to trauma informed clinicians. BMC offers free psychotherapy with our intern program

EMDR treatment considerations: I usually meet to come up with a treatment plan depending on symptomatology. Usually specific to the areas of struggles and are individualistic for each person, though with with trauma responses there are some general and specific patterns that people struggle with. Meeting those goals are variable depending on the nature of the trauma and how it presents.
