It is my joy to work with couples seeking to improve their relationships and individuals seeking to reduce their stress, anxiety and the depression that often accompanies this time of year. i work with many mature clients and am Medicare approved. I also love working with adults of all ages and have experience working in mental health centers, hospitals, foster care agencies, and schools. I have also worked in a sherriff's department with the staff and victims. Working with trauma victims is a strong suit as I worked in Critical Crisis on-site Response for years. I am grateful to be working with Mt. Hebron and a new client base.

Hello and welcome to my webpage! Do you want to tell YOUR story and truly be heard and validated? If so, then we need to work together! I am here to help adults, teenagers, and family members of addicts face their own issues, and learn new coping skills for problematic situations. This is the foundation of a more balanced life, but like anything else worth having in life, you have to work at it.
Struggling with “living life on life’s terms”? With all the stressors that arise while we are attempting to ‘adult’, sometimes we need a listening ear, fresh ideas, or a push in a new direction. If it’s true that it takes a village to raise a child, then shouldn’t we build a stronger village? If everyday life has you stressed, overwhelmed, confused and hopeless, and in need of a new direction or fresh start, perhaps embarking on a journey of skill building, goal setting and new direction will give you purpose and the energy to improve your current situation.

Mental health is steadily gaining global recognition. Fortunately, with exposure comes greater access to treatment for those with mental health concerns. Unfortunately, the flip-side to increased exposure is standardization; society is quick to turn to diagnoses and labels to simplify the complexities of human beings. Although diagnoses can be helpful, it is important to remember: you are not just not a label or a diagnosis. With Cal Hilsman at Compassionate Acceptance for Life (CAL), you will find a therapist that prizes each client as unique and encourages self exploration beyond the standard internet search.
Anything's possible. Just because you've hit a roadblock and you seemed to have lost your direction doesn't mean that's actually the case. You're letting fear be your guide and that's not you. Your aim is the top, and you're making great strides. Take a breath and reclaim your center. There's no benefit in being hard on yourself. I know you think you should be there already, but that's because you're comparing yourself to others and that only makes you feel worse. You want to be the best because you are the best. And that takes time and patients. There's no need to be hasty. The world will know who you are in due time. Just believe.
Life can be hard and just "raggedy" at times. I know and I get it. For some, reaching out for help is the last thing you may want to do but I would love to walk with you on your journey to healing. Would you believe me if I told you that the answers you are seeking are already within you? I will merely be your guide and safe place to allow you to discover these answers. There is so much more in store for you versus the current narrative you have been rehearsing to yourself.
Tired of feeling stressed, overwhelmed and unmotivated? Do you find yourself struggling to make time for yourself? The women that I work with often have full schedules with work, family, children, school and everything else, with very little time to prioritize their own health and well-being. They are typically in need of better coping strategies to help manage their symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression. Their goals are usually to feel mentally, emotionally and physically stronger to allow them to feel more confident and focused in their day to day life.

Do any of these statements sound familiar? "I feel like I'm going crazy!" "Life feels out of control!" "I'm a mess!" Sometimes life feels out of control and you may feel "crazy" or a "mess". Unloading the burden with a trusted person in a safe and confidential environment, knowing you aren't being judged, condemned or criticized can be freeing. Life can be hard! Some seasons are more difficult than others. My passion is to serve individuals, couples and families in a way that influences the whole family toward growth and health.

Feeling stuck, depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, and misunderstood? Does your life lack meaning and purpose? Are you struggling with substance abuse, alcohol, or other addictions and feel your life is out of control? Are you not living the life you want? I know how you feel, and I can help. Our journey in life can sometimes be difficult, frightening, and painful. However, it’s through these moments that we find opportunity for our greatest growth, to become our genuine self, who we are meant to be.

As a therapist I believe in coming along side another and providing the support that is needed to move forward and be comfortable with being you. I believe that everyone deserves to have a safe space to process, not be judged, and receive support. I understand how it feels to be misunderstood and to want to move forward and not know the first step.
Feeling lost and overwhelmed by all the decisions and choices you are faced with daily can be stressful and exhausting, and stress can be magnified by the constant changes everyone experiences. These changes in relationships, your roles in school or workplace, family situations, and demands from others can all make you feel anxious, depressed...helpless. For some, the current health crisis has brought about changes that added isolation and loneliness to the mix. An increase in substance use in an effort to feel better is not unusual, but may add even more pressure to strained coping abilities.
My passion as a Sexual Addiction Therapist comes from a life-long struggle with my sexual addiction. From a very young age, I entered a highly sexualized world, including sexual abuse by five different men from age five to fourteen. All of these men played a significant and trusting role in my life. When I was eleven years old, losing my father to emphysema forced me to grow up overnight into an overcompensating perfectionist. Perfect student, perfect son, and later a perfect member of the United States Air Force created an unsustainable persona.
