I have four specialties: 1) helping heal and deepen relationships through Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, 2) helping people understand and reduce chronic anxiety, 3) overcoming stuck places of emotional shutdown and low motivation, and 4) healing religious or spiritual wounds, including trauma and neglect. All four of these specialties have a common goal; to help you discover your most authentic self. Living as your authentic self is an experience of presence, inspiration, strength, compassion, confidence and self-awareness. It's a place of connection - to yourself, to other people, and to something larger than us.

Life is hard-I imagine that is the last thing that you want to hear right now. But unless you assume a different perspective, you may miss some important things-like hope, grace, and compassion. In my 30 plus years as a licensed professional counselor, I have had the honor of walking with individuals and couples through life crises and transitions, seeing them with fresh eyes, an understanding heart, and strategic interventions (or behavioral “experiments”) as they discover a new life of purpose and meaning, with renewed personal energy and deepened relationships.

Life is challenging and sometimes overwhelming for all of us! I believe everyone has within themselves the ability and inner wisdom to successfully navigate life's challenges if given the opportunity and necessary tools for change. Therapy is an opportunity for me to walk with clients through life challenges by helping them identify and meet their own desired life goals for change and personal growth while helping them to reclaim their own life story. By providing a safe place and personal support, I help clients explore the context of their own life experiences and the impact of those experiences on their life and relationships.

I have a B.S. in counseling, and I am in my final year of grad school where I am earning hours towards a Marriage and Family Therapy M.A. and licensure. I am interning at Universal Therapeutic Services working under supervisor Teresa Thompson, LPC-S. Every person deserves the space to be heard and process what is important to them. Therapy should be a safe space to work on the goals important to each individual and this is what I strive to provide each of my clients. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are facing a wide range of life challenges in a variety of settings . I use a trauma-informed lens in my clinical work and I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

A guiding principle in working with any client is to see that person as a unique individual with strengths and potential far greater than the problem that has brought them to my door. My job is to tap into those strengths, to help you see your potential, and to support you in making the change you are seeking to achieve. I incorporate a holistic approach that looks at a client from a whole person, mind-body perspective, focusing on identifying relational, lifestyle, or cognitive changes that may be beneficial to reaching your identified goals.
