Do you ever feel stuck? Do you ever feel weighed down by a present situation, past hurts, or worries about your future? I'm Lauren Kittrell, a Fellow at Heritage Institute in Travelers Rest, SC. I have a Master's in Professional Counseling and am awaiting LPC-A licensure. I consider it an honor to be allowed to sit with someone in their pain and help them find a healthy way through the pain to healing. I am especially passionate about trauma and grief work, but see a variety of clients with differing needs. I would love to hear from you about how I might be able to help you through your current challenges.
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Clinical Practice originally from Upstate New York. I lived in several states before settling in the Greenville area about 30 years ago. I received my Bachelor of Psychology degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 1994 and my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1997.
As of 5/26/2022 I am still unable to accept any new clients. I will revisit this 8/1/2022. I love working with clients to help them see their inherent human value and to help them achieve their goals. I believe that healing is absolutely possible and will commit to helping clients on that journey. Together, we will address those critical self-thoughts and work towards replacing them with authentic and affirming thoughts. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to learn and grow and heal. I work with clients ages 16 and older.
Living with a chronic health condition or pain can be overwhelming, scary, and confusing. At times you don't recognize yourself anymore, and you wonder what new limitations the day might bring. You know these struggles are somehow behind your depressed and anxious feelings, and you feel alone...that no one understands. Right now, you have more questions than answers, but you know you'd do anything to get your life back. The roller coaster of doctor visits, medication changes, and emotions is becoming too much and you're ready to get off the roller coaster and feel grounded again.
Anxious, distressed, working through wounds and loss, or just needing hope and encouragement? If this applies to you, my desire is to walk with you on your journey and advocate for you. Everyone needs a cheerleader to help hold their hope throughout life. To meet someone in their source of pain is an honor and privilege that I take seriously.
Heritage Institute is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit teaching clinic. We serve individuals, couples, and families who are overwhelmed and need someone to come along side of them. We have therapists at every stage in the process of licensure. We believe it is a privilege to serve our clients, improving families and the communities we live in.
Trauma is a lifelong life changing event that makes one feel separate from the other people, challenges are feeling connected with yourself and others, identifying who you are-not what we think others expect from us.
I offer a safe space for individuals to discuss challenges and life difficulties. I have worked extensively with young children with social-emotional and behavioral concerns and their families. As a therapist and a foster parent I understand the unique challenges that children in care face. I emphasize building a collaborative, genuine therapeutic relationship with children, adults and families with whom I work. In therapy, I work with individuals to improve interpersonal skills and develop more effective patterns of behavior.
Are you feeling out of control, overwhelmed or stuck? Have you been struggling with depression and anxiety, feel your emotions are all over the place and you don’t know what’s wrong? There is relief in your pain. In this moment, you need something to change. I can help you work towards the best version of yourself and a life worth living. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Partners in Counseling & Behavioral Health Services, LLC, I specialize in Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Mood Disorders and Trauma.
You’re stuck and you just don't know what to do about it. It is hard enough to get out of bed everyday but choosing a path for your life seems impossible and drains you of the limited amount of energy and motivation that you have to begin with. Other people can complete daily tasks and chart a life course without overwhelming anxiety, so you conclude that obviously that means there must be something wrong with you. Maybe you can even pinpoint an exact situation or time in your life that sent you spiraling into anxiety, forcing you to become someone you do not even recognize.
In this world you and I are guaranteed to experience some sort of trouble (John 16:33). I am called and have been very well equipped to help individuals, couples, and families learn how to have an abundant life in-spite of the troubles of this world. I have limited space available for new clients. Please call to see if I can help meet your needs.

Life is challenging and sometimes overwhelming for all of us! I believe everyone has within themselves the ability and inner wisdom to successfully navigate life's challenges if given the opportunity and necessary tools for change. Therapy is an opportunity for me to walk with clients through life challenges by helping them identify and meet their own desired life goals for change and personal growth while helping them to reclaim their own life story. By providing a safe place and personal support, I help clients explore the context of their own life experiences and the impact of those experiences on their life and relationships.
Family is one of the biggest parts of ours lives, so when there are problems within your family, it can be all consuming. I love coming alongside those who are experiencing issues within their marriage, family of origin, or their relationship with their children and witnessing healing and growth from our time together.
**NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME** You're here because you're exhausted pretending like everything's ok. You wonder what's wrong with you because you generally can handle challenges, but right now you feel like you're drowning. You can't even stop to take care of yourself because you're too busy taking care of everyone else. You wonder if your relationship will ever get better. Despite this, you're not ready to give up on yourself or the relationship.
For any relationship to work you must be able to communicate. Marriage can be tough. I help people communicate and manage their conflict. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, serving North Carolina since 2003. I provide marriage, premarital, individual counseling for adults. I see people with a variety of therapeutic concerns including, but not limited to, trauma, depression, anxiety, & non-supportive spouse.
You are worried about your family. You see that your child is struggling or suffering, but you’re not sure how to help them. Maybe these worries are new due to a traumatic or stressful life event. Maybe it’s been happening for a while and it’s reached a point where you need help now for your child, your family, and yourself. I work with children and adolescents to increase their ability and confidence to communicate their complex feelings, while empowering their parents to find solutions. I believe that once everyone is tuned in to their emotions they can approach problem solving from a calm and insightful position.
***Only daytime (before 4pm) appointments available*** There are many reasons to seek out therapy and a good therapist. Those reasons can range from emotional issues to relational issues to life transitions to disconnection from others in your life. Life can be extremely hard, confusing or hopeless. Having supports that bring you hope are essential. If you’re looking to work on yourself or your relationship with a significant other I would love to help.
It is an honor to join someone’s personal journey as they address challenges and heal from past experiences. I work with clients who are motivated to work on those challenges which have kept them from achieving their personal and professional goals. Many of my clients are dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, relationship conflict, and trauma and have come to me seeking relief through validation, skills building, and adjusting their inner narrative. I also enjoy working with women and new mothers with postpartum depression, anxiety, and adjustment difficulties by offering solution focused support as well as traditional therapy.
