My hope is that whatever your reason for considering counseling, you know that there is a place you can come to be heard without judgement. If you have never seen a counselor or are looking for a new counselor I know it can be intimidating and it takes courage to make the first appointment. I respect the relationships I build with clients and I value the story of everyone I meet. There is a lot going on in our world right now. We can work together to create a plan of care that fits your individual concerns.

I have a strong conviction to be present with Christ at all times, while also being present in the moment with your own thoughts and feelings. I use mindful cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to facilitate this presence and ground clients to become more aware of the moment. I enjoy traveling, watching period drama movies and television shows, and eating seafood and spending time with her fiancé’.

I have been working in the field of mental health since 2014, primarily with adolescents facing crises and in various settings - from schools to shelters to residential facilities. The ability to communicate and understand emotions is a learned skill, and I utilize my training as an Expressive Arts Therapist to assist clients in achieving this through self-reflection and re-connection.

Not currently accepting new clients. Do you feel a little off? Are you tired of feeling sad, anxious, insecure, lonely or less motivated than normal? Honestly, you are not alone! Life is hard and these last couple of years have thrown everyone for a loop. However, you deserve to feel happiness and joy. I promise, you were not put on this earth to just make it through the day, and reaching out is the first step to moving toward a more fulfilling and rewarding life! As a LMSW, I have made it my mission to help adolescents and adults cope healthfully with life challenges. I know that the idea of therapy can be intimidating.

In the face of the unthinkable, seeking help is an act of remarkable courage. Whether you've experienced the loss of a child, a spouse, a loved one, or even a career, the weight of trauma, grief, and hopelessness can suffocate. Motivation to heal may seem distant, and you find yourself trapped in memories, nightmares, and intense fear and anxiety. Promises of a brighter tomorrow remain unfulfilled. Life is too precious to stay trapped in the exhausting grip of grief. Let me be your guide toward the path of hope.

I believe every client is valuable & important regardless of the issues they struggle with. Helping clients recognize their worth, value & inner strengths & learn effective ways to use these strengths & not just focus on their weaknesses and struggles. It's helping clients identify what they can and can't control, manage what they can & learn how to let go or live with what they can't control. I believe everyone can begin again and there's no shame in asking for help in fact it is a strength.

I enjoy working with all demographics of people, particularly military families, veterans, women, teens and couples.
Help can come in many forms, but professional help can form the lasting results needed to thrive. I offer individual, family, and couples counseling and I’m committed to assisting each client move towards their goals by providing a safe space to explore, identify and challenge their needs, thoughts, behaviors, and goals. We all have different inner gifts, thought processes, and needs that motivate us to reach our goals, behave and think in certain ways. But there can be moments or seasons in life that are difficult and challenging in ways that we cannot understand or move past on our own. Allow me to help.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
