I specialize in adult women's mental health wellness. Helping you move beyond anxiety, depression , trauma, low self esteem, grief, & life issues to find happy, hope-filled, healthy lives & relationships. Sadness and fear don't have to be daily emotions. It's tiring, lonely, frustrating, terrifying & even heartbreaking to think this is your life. It's not what you hoped it would be - it's not what it should be. You want to be happy and able to cope with life, but it's just too much to handle and things aren't getting better. You feel like things will never change. Sometimes we just need support & understanding from someone helpful.

Being human is complex and brings a plethora of emotions your way. There are highs, lows, twists, and turns. At times the emotion we experience is overwhelming and the natural urge is to resist the feeling, to push it all away. The struggle to resist painful emotions, thoughts, memories, etc. is exhausting. It is through acceptance that a person can begin healing, coping, and growing into their best self. I have experience working with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression , Borderline Personality Disorder, etc., allowing me to help others learn new ways of addressing unwanted emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

It's not uncommon for us to endure hardships and trials in life for a long time, wondering "Will I ever get through this? Will I ever feel better?" The pressure to perform in various areas and roles can feel heavy and difficult. We all have personal and relational things impacting our lives no matter what stage of life we are in. In therapy, the goal is to help uncover the roots of the presenting symptoms. Too often we only focus on the symptoms themselves, which results in temporary solutions.

Are you tired of merely surviving? Maybe anxiety has made your world small and lonely, or depression and feelings of worthlessness have kept you disconnected from yourself and your loved ones and have held you back from the life you want. Perhaps you’ve developed ways of engaging with others and with yourself that once protected you in difficult or traumatic circumstances; however, these patterns now result in pain that is becoming unbearable. Whatever suffering brings you here, you do not have to bear it alone. It is possible to thrive rather than just survive.

At one point, you were excited for the day. Even though your days had ups and downs, at least you were looking forward to the high points. Now, as much as you want to feel excited, it feels like most of the high points fall flat. Many of the things that you used to enjoy, or were just part of your daily routine, now feel like a task. You aren't lost, and you are sure if you're depressed , you just feel "meh". You want things to change, but you feel stuck.

I have many years experience working with adults and children suffering from depression , anxiety, OCD, anger issues, trauma, and abuse. I have also worked in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. After my graduate studies, my primary focus and training was working with children suffering from ADHD, ODD, depression , and anxiety. I used behavioral management coupled with parenting strategies to improve the overall parent/child relationship. I gained incredible knowledge and insight regarding chronic pain as well as grief and loss while working with the elderly population through home health care and hospice.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
