My approach is using the mind-body connection to address symptoms. I believe in treating each of my clients as a whole person. The mind and body are not separate entities but are intricately interconnected. I believe effective treatment must reflect this delicate relationship between mind and body.

Are you struggling to get through each day? Is it difficult to go through the routines? Transitions in life, stressors, and difficult situations can lead to changes in how you feel and how you function. If you are experiencing anxiety, worry, and sadness, these feelings are usually associated with distressing physical symptoms and can greatly affect your ability to work and relate to others. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be this way. With therapy, you can learn to approach things differently.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed or hopeless? Can you say you feel like "yourself" right now? Are you wondering where to even start the journey to healing? Everybody at some point in their lives reaches a place where the stressors of life become overwhelming and heavy. We go through life transitions that bring anxiety or grief. We question our identity or self-esteem. We feel like our faith or values aren't as beneficial as we want them to be. At these times, it’s beneficial to seek a non-judgmental space where we can feel free to sort through our thoughts and emotions.

One of the biggest lies ever told is sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me! As humans we experience pain in different ways, and we often give priority to physical pain while ignoring emotional and/or mental pain. Let's change that!

Individuals have many different reasons for coming into therapy ~ from day-to-day stressors to major life crises. Therapy can be short-term for a specific concern or longer-term to cope with more difficult issues. Therapy can also help with observations of lifelong patterns that bring an unease to our relationships with self and with others.

Life can present so many challenges throughout our lives from childhood to adulthood. Transitions, change, major events, minor inconveniences, all add up to create situations that can feel overwhelming and leave us feeling isolated. We all need that validation that comes from having a listening ear and guidance from someone and can benefit from having the space to work through all our thoughts and feelings.

Places you come to, places you leave behind, places where you wish to arrive. You have come to one of life’s tough places and found confusion, conflict, and complications. Instead of enjoying life, you are spending much of it on anxiety, disappointment, shame, loneliness, pain, and stress. There are places of greater calm, simplicity, and well-being, where relationships are caring, connections are deep, and ease is daily. You have strength to make inroads towards new places and wisdom to find greater acceptance and enjoyment of your life journey. "On the long, rough road, the sun and moon will continue to shine" -Thich Nhat Hanh.

I have had many years of experience working with adolescents, children, adults, and their families in both facilities as well as in homes. Through this experience, I have built my practice of clinicians who really are able to connect and listen to our clients. My work with relationships, couples and families has led me to my current practice. Meeting people where they are is so important. Helping them find their strengths and supports within their life, working on goals that are hopeful and achieveable, and finally helping them find their purpose in life, their relationships, and within themselves is the ultimate goal of therapy

How does the Gottman method work?

One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?

Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?

Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
