I am passionate about children, teens, and parents. I chose to specialize in Child Clinical Psychology because I find children and adolescents to be fun to work with and incredibly strong and inspiring. I particularly enjoy working with those with anxiety and mood difficulties, and have extensive experience working with those with a history of traumatic experiences including abuse. Psychologists are extensively trained in both diagnostics - identifying disorders - and therapy, as well as how to use one to guide the other. I gather information from all areas of child's life to understand the child as a whole person.

When was the last time you felt joyful? Or even content? What about the last time you felt decisive? Optimistic? Confident? In control? Fearless? Loved? I want to help in the most effective and efficient way possible. So although I am educated and experienced as a counselor, I choose hypnotherapy as my primary modality. I can help you reduce stress, heal trauma, improve sleep, change habits and beliefs that are draining you, release phobias, and teach you to trust and love yourself. I specialize in telehypnosis for clients all over the U.S.

Life throws obstacles of all sizes at us that are a challenge to navigate through. Life can be hard, unfair, unexplainable, and impossible to figure out alone. We often find ourselves stuck and unable to move forward with a positive outlook. Perhaps you have lost the desire to enjoy the journey each day. Anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and communication struggles are a few things that grow and take over from trauma, stress and life events. Taking the step to seek support can be intimidating, but you owe it to yourself to start the journey toward a healthier, happier, and more productive life. YES, you owe it to yourself!

I work with adults across the lifespan who are navigating the variety of unique challenges that life presents–from depression and anxiety, to major life transitions, to serious health concerns and grief. With a background in healthcare (having worked in emergency, critical care, and hospice settings for more than 10 years), I have a particular passion for working with clients facing life challenges at the intersection of physical and mental health, whether that be coping with your own physical and/or mental illness, being a caregiver, dealing with stress and burnout, or grieving a loss.

Change is a choice. I believe everyone, at some point in our lives, can benefit from counseling and make positive changes. Life happens and it can be very, very difficult and even totally overwhelming from time to time. Counseling can help you navigate through those challenging times no matter the circumstances. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, overcoming abuse or a history of violence, behavioral issues, grief, difficulty adjusting, or just need to learn more healthy and effective coping skills, do consider giving counseling a try. If you want to change and are willing to truly try, that is all it takes.

We are products of our environment, experiences and relationships. Along the way, we have gathered deeply internalized beliefs - some that serve our growth and wellbeing, some that don’t - emotions, both positive and negative, and chronic stress or trauma. All of this has impacted our life and much of what has happened in the past still resides deeply in our body, manifesting as behavioral, relational or emotional struggles, often unexplained and sometimes inexplicable.

Lonely, anxious, depressed, frustrated, angry, confused? Psychotherapy can be an important step toward seeking change, resolving issues and focusing on personal growth. Each person who begins therapy has different needs and goals making the therapeutic relationship unique. Life brings challenges, obstacles and burdens that can cause many feelings and emotions; sometimes paralyzing us towards a direction. Therapy is not a mystery but rather a process where healing is facilitated in a caring environment.

Navigating the rocky terrain of early adulthood can be both amazing and brutal all at the same time. One day you understand why people tell you "these are the best days of your life," and other days, you feel certain your life is moving forward without you. The average twenty-something experiences a tremendous amount of stress that is often misunderstood by others. As they say, the struggle is real! I work with college students and young professionals who find themselves consistently overwhelmed and thinking in circles.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor and art therapist I create a safe, welcoming environment that will enable you to create positive change in your life, family and community. Working together we will identify avenues to engage in a value driven life. At times feelings of anxiety and depression act as barriers to our goals and values. Through a variety of techniques, such as mindfulness, ACT (acceptance & commitment therapy) and art therapy these barriers can be eliminated.

How can I find a therapist in Oconee County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
